Jinx had jumped ahead. She was already on the first step and then skipped onto the next one. Toby watched anxiously as she almost lost her footing. On the fourth step, a giant trap opened in the water underneath Jinx. A heap of skeletons and dead bodies were piled inside the hole.
“All the bodies are in here!” Jinx blurted, looking at the mess beneath her.
Jinxed hopped to the next rock, but slipped. Luckily, she managed to grab hold of the next stepping stone and hung there. Using all of her strength, she heaved herself onto the platform and stood there, shocked. The last step was a lot taller than she had expected, there was absolutely no way in the world she could get up.
Jinx turned around, “anyone got a rope or something? I’m a little stuck here.”
Toby and Varis shook their heads in unison. Jinx rummaged through her bag, but could not find a single piece of thread. Varis let out a loud sigh and laid back on a rock. Suddenly, a thin platform appeared on the last step.
“Woah! Where did that come from?” Jinx said in surprise.
Varis changed his seating to find a more comfortable position and not long after that, the platform disappeared again.
“It’s gone,” Jinx muttered to herself, “guys, help me out please!”
She turned her back around again, still keeping her balance. Varis moved around and the block re-appeared.
“Okay, platform. Do. Not. Move,” Jinx ordered.
Varis chuckled quietly.
“What’s so funny?!” Jinx shouted.
“You look like you’re surfing.”
A blush covered Jinx’s face, “S-Shut up!”
Jinx bounced to the next block, but the thin slab disappeared, leaving Jinx clinging hopelessly onto the step like a koala.
“Wait a sec… That was the first time that I’ve seen Varis laugh in years.” Jinx thought to herself.
She picked up the box and opened it, inside was a small green bottle, with foreign writing on the front.
“This must be the antidote,” Jinx continued.
