Varis tagged along silently, he didn’t want to follow everyone else’s orders, but it was his only choice. Zombies crawled around the streets. Now everywhere was a danger zone. The group of friends jumped off the rope and watched the balcony overflow with dead beings. A few zombies fell off the veranda and their body parts separated when they hit the ground. Jinx looked away in disgust, but Toby seemed slightly interested and began to poke the body with a stick.

“Toby! Get away from the zombie!” Varis yelled.

Another zombie fell from the platform above them and almost landed on Toby. The poor boy was now covered in zombie guts and blood.

“Eww…” Toby said, trying to wipe off the zombie blood from his blonde hair.

To their surprise, they found an abandoned truck on the street, with the keys still inside.

“Get in!” Jinx ordered to the others.

They drove past the moaning zombies and tried to find a way out of the city. Iris was busy reading inside the car.

“Iris, what are you doing? Now is not the time to be reading one of those fantasy novels!” Jinx complained.

Varis turned around inside his passenger seat, and took a glance at what was in Iris’ hands.

“This book has valuable information inside; it can tell us how to stop the apocalypse.” Iris responded.

“When did you get a book like that?” Toby interrupted.

“A few months ago, when news about an apocalypse appeared on TV,” Iris continued, still scanning the pages.
“Speaking of TV, look at the screens on the buildings!” Jinx cried.

Broadcasted on the screens, were zombie apocalypses put on video cameras from all over the world.

“So it isn’t just our city…” Varis said quietly to himself.

The truck eventually reached a bridge, which stretched out over the river. The bridge was packed like a can of sardines, as it was the only way to escape from the city.
