Varis remained silent and took a glance at Jinx’s face. He smirked at her and then looked back up. Jinx could feel her face turn bright red. All she could see were his sharp green eyes that were slightly covered by his hair. Jinx winced as a small jab of pain went through her shoulder. She could already feel the bite flow through her head and closed her eyes to rest. Varis was trying to get home as soon as he could, before the bite would take over Jinx’s entire body. Toby followed him silently and watched Jinx’s face grow pale. A few zombies blocked their way, but luckily Varis had brought a gun with him. Simple scratches from the zombies did not worry Varis; he just wanted to get home without any trouble.
Varis kicked the unlocked door open. He put Jinx on the couch and took the antidote out of her bag. He opened the bottle but was stopped by Toby.
“We can’t use up the entire antidote; we still need it for the scientists and your scratch,” Toby stated.
Varis replied, “Who cares about my scratch, Jinx’s life is on the line here.”
Toby had no more say in the conversation. Varis poured the last drop of the antidote onto Jinx’s wound and she woke up.
