“Wait. What?!” exclaimed Kate with a dumbfounded expression on her face. I really did feel bad for her, but I had to do this. “You’re joking right? Kate started to laugh. I gave her a look.

“Do I look like I’m joking? No I am really going to move to England. I can’t live here anymore. It’s going to be too hard, mainly because I know almost everyone here, so now everyone’s going to give me sympathy and feel sorry for me because I lost my parents. I don’t want that. I don’t want people to feel sorry for me; I just want to move on.” I explained, getting more and more determined to this with each second. I looked at Kate to try and figure out what she was thinking.

“But seriously out of everywhere in the world you pick London? It’s just so random!” Kate said “And like wouldn’t it be better to surrounded by people you know? And what about your Aunty Lisa and Jacob? They’re going to miss you so much! What about your other commitments here!?” I knew she was going to do this, try to talk me out of going. That’s what all good friends would do. I tried to think if the other commitments I had, and I could only think of one.

“The only other commitment I have here is my job, which I think they fired me when I didn’t come to work for the past month” I said with dry humour, trying to lighten the mood, Kate had now got up from where she was sitting and had started pacing her room, trying to think of more reasons I shouldn’t go no doubt.

“Ok then if you don’t have a job, how are you going to afford it?” Kate, thinking she had caught me off guard with this question smiled. I just smiled right back at her. I had already thought of this.

“Since my parents are dead, I have all their money saved in my account. I technically own everything that was once theirs.” Once I said that out loud, I thought what would they do if they knew what I was doing with the money that they saved up for years? Would they be proud or disappointed? Trying not to think of that because I really wanted to go to England, I made myself focus back on Kat; who had stopped pacing and was now staring at me with wonder.

“But your parents were really, really rich. So…you now have all that money?” whispered Kate. Because it was true, my parents were surgeons, that how they met, and you get a lot of money for being a surgeon. Also they were very good at saving.

“Yer I do. But I’m not going to go crazy and spend it all. I’m only going to use what I absolutely have to” I said, waiting for her next lot of reasons I shouldn’t go. But she just kept standing there and staring at me.

“There is really no changing your mind is there?” she asked. Looking down, but then thinking I had to be strong in my answer, I looked back up and looked into her eyes.

“No there’s not. It’s made up, I’m going to England” I said softly, waiting for her response.

“OMG it’s going to cost me so much money. How much are tickets to London anyway” Now it was my turn to have a dumbfounded look. I couldn’t believe what she was saying! Kate was now at her desk; she grabbed her laptop and sat next to me with it.

“Are you coming with me?” I asked. She looked up with a confused look.

“Of course you idiot, why wouldn’t I? You didn’t think I would let you go by yourself did you? She just laughed and went back to looking at her laptop.

“But what about your responsibilities here?! What are your parents going to say!?”

“I am a legal adult, I am 19 years old, and I can make decisions for myself. But your right they won’t be happy with me” Kate said.  I’ve never fully appreciated Kate until this moment; she would always be there for, as I would her. We were inseparable. “ The only problem is going to Matt” she said her smile dropping a bit. Matt was her boyfriend and he was also a really good friend of mine. Kate and him had been dating for a couple of years now, I think he will eventually propose to her and they will marry, that’s how good their relationship is.
