"Aha! This is quite interesting!"
Closing the book with a loud slam, I jump in excitement...only to then realize where I am and sit back down again looking around. I completely forgot I was still in the town's library and right now there were a few people looking at me. Some looking at me with confused looks, some looking with annoyed 'why did she have to make a noise' looks and then the people who aren't really bothered but still looked up looks. I do not like this sort of attention on myself...just look away people...look away.
Let us not forget Josey that a library means being quite and respectful...
The reason why I had gotten so excited was because I finally found a topic for the research project we are doing at school! Noah still hasn't found a topic but has assured me it is because the topic of cancer is so broad that anything can be spoken about and all the information will be educational and interesting to learn so he's having a hard time choosing which topic to focus on. I mean I can't blame him for not being able to decide because there are more than 200 types of cancer and if I'm being honest it took me at least I'd say about 2 hours to skim through all the medical books about cancer in this library and that's just skimming...I didn't even read through anything thoroughly. I messaged Noah back and told him that it was chilled because I was having a hard time too trying to decide on what topic to choose and I told him I was currently trying to choose one because I knew once I got home I wouldn't have anytime to still wiggle my thumbs and debate about it so I had to do it now. I also had a time I needed to be back and go to the grocery store...so I'm already testing my limits here. Noah messaged back after that and I said I should tell him what topic I decided to choose once I had chosen and hopefully it'll help him decide faster.
And so after those 2 hours of skimming I decided to choose a topic that both interests me and could be interesting for others to learn...
Uterine Cancer.
I thought to myself while skimming through that section that it would be quite interesting to learn more about it because for me personally it wasn't something that I heard a lot about and something I really don't know about. It didn't make sense to me how I never knew anything about it but so many people around the world are affected by it and so those thoughts spurred me on to decide that this was the topic I'd focus on.
After pretending to read a bit, I got up again, quietly this time and not as embarrassed as before and made my way back to the medical section of the library and started putting all the medical books about cancer back and focusing on finding the book specifically about uterine cancer. It took a few minutes to find because it isn't something that commonly gets taken out.
"Found it." I whisper and grab the book that was solely focused on uterine cancer. I'm actually quite excited to read this book more thoroughly because I'm essentially educating myself on something that affects many people and then educating others on it as well.
Walking over to the librarian's desk, where I'm meant to check out the book, a group of teenagers walk in making quite the noise.
"Teenagers...happy to have them but not happy to hear them." The elderly librarian, Mrs Buckenham, sighs but still manages a smile, and looks over to the group of teenagers now standing slightly behind me and still making a noise. One can only assume that they're here to obviously take books out but are coming to the librarian's desk first to ask where those books are...wild guess here but I bet I'm right.
"Don't stress to much over the noise, Mrs Buckenham, they'll quieten down sooner or later." I smile and giggle slightly at her dumbfounded face while handing over the book for her to check out.
