Josephina

"What time does your work start?"

"Starts at about 5, maybe 6, and then I'll be working till about midnight."

"Why are you wanting to leave so early then?" Clara asks again and passes me the crisps bag that we've been snacking on while walking.

"Firstly, it's quite a far walk and the earlier I leave then the more time I'll have on that side." I say and eat a few crisps and pass the bag back to Clara. We've been walking for 10 minutes so not too long but you'd be surprised by the amount of things we've talked about in that walking distance. It's more like we can't stay on one topic and we constantly change topics while talking and then we forget about the previous topic we were talking about and then we laugh and continue chatting.

I must admit, as someone who never had close friends since I was a toddler, it's quite nice having someone who you can talk too even if it's about the most stupidest things and irrelevant topics. Some relationships just move faster than others and because we're both shy people and now spend everyday sitting next to each other, it's kind of made us talk more and now we've made a habit of finding each other on the school grounds and just being in each others company. I've never had a close friend before and I never socialize in school because I don't need to waste money on going to school to make friends and then not focus on schoolwork because money is tight for me but I have to admit that it's nice having a friend.

"And second?" She asks after walking in silence for a few minutes. I forgot completely that we were talking about my work and why I leave early.

"Oh yes. Secondly, I have extra time to do homework if we get any on a Friday and I can do some extra shopping for the next week if I need anything."

She nods and turns back to looking forward while walking. It's about an hour away from home and we've been walking for about 20 minutes now? So we do have quite the stretch left but I'm grateful for the company even if we walk in silence the rest of the way.

"By the way, thank you for walking with me. I do hope that you won't get in too much trouble when you get home." I whisper and smile very grateful that she chose to walk with me even after being warned about getting into trouble when she gets home.

Laughing and smiling she dismisses the thoughts. "Don't worry. It was important but I've told my brothers that I never wanted anything to do with the family business and if I did then I would decide what I wanted to do in it." She sighs after laughing and her smile falls slightly. "But I will be getting either yelled at or lectured."

"Mind if I ask what the family business is?" I ask curiously. Having a family business is kind of cool, like imagine having a family business like the coffee shop that I work at. It would be so cool growing up and having a small business that you could join and possibly take over if that's what you wanted.

"Uhm...I don't think I can say." She says nervously and looks anywhere but at me. She thrusts the crisps bag, that was forgotten, back into my direction and shakes it slightly motioning for me to take some out.

Weird...I wonder what the family business is. Unless they are like a family of werewolves or vampires then I don't want to know.

"Do you have any more siblings? Besides Felix and your older brother." I ask changing the subject because obviously the previous question didn't get an answer and I'm not one to pry and pry for an answer.

"My older brothers name is Alexander and then I have another brother who's one year younger than my older brother and his name is Ezra." She explains. I nod and look at her while walking, she's smiling, probably lots of fond memories with her brothers.
