Josephina
"Hey Noah."
"Hey Josey. How's the research coming along?" He asks over the phone as I'm busy reading through the first few chapters of the textbook I got from the library.
I decided to phone Noah because we still haven't discussed a plan for the research project. Like we haven't decided if we'll both stick to cancer or not because we agreed to a broad topic, diseases and treatment, and I decided to do cancer but specifically focusing on Uterine Cancer. I completely forgot about the treatments part of our topic and Noah hasn't decided what to do yet either so I decided to phone while I'm busy with my part of the work.
"I took out the textbook about Uterine Cancer from the library today and I'm just reading through it and making notes right now. I haven't read much though since I've phoned you." I respond to his question. While I'm on the phone with Noah, I'm also skimming through some paragraphs in Chapter 2 of the textbook. Chapter 1 was more so history and overall information of cancer as a disease and then moving on through the rest of the chapters is more so focused on Uterine Cancer.
"That's good. Do you mind helping me with the topic I should do?" He asks and waits for my response. I mean I am busy now so helping him won't help me read this entire textbook but helping him could actually help me decide whether or not I should include certain information because I can ask him about it.
I nod my head but then stupidly realize that he's not there in person. "Yeah sure I'll help. Do you want to do a type of cancer as well?" I ask and as I wait for him to answer, I continue reading a few lines in one of the paragraphs.
"Well I actually don't mind because then I could do a different type of cancer. Like for example you're doing a type of cancer that affects majority of females so maybe I could do a type of cancer that affects majority of males?" He continues explaining why he could do cancer and then explains that he could do a different disease as there are so many and two different diseases would educate more people but then again he explained that cancer is so broad that it wouldn't be a bad thing to educate people more on that.
"Okie, I have an idea." I say interrupting him on deciding on whether to do cancer or not.
"I'm listening." He says and I nod my head. I stop reading the current paragraph that I'm on and put my full attention on my phone which is sitting next to me on speaker phone.
"Why don't we both do cancer then. I like the first idea you came up with, me doing a cancer affecting the majority of females and then you doing a cancer affecting the majority of males." I say and wait for his answer. I mean he doesn't have to agree if he doesn't want too. I'll be chilled with anything because I've already got my topic and I'm not changing it now.
"Okay that does sound like a good research topic." He agrees and over the phone I hear the sound of rummaging and papers being flipped. I assume he's taking notes? I don't know.
"And a part of the research project is explaining why we chose the topic we. So we can say that we chose diseases and treatments because it's such a broad topic and then we further explain why we chose cancer and the process of choosing it, which would be us deciding if we should do two different types of cancer or doing separate diseases and whatnot. How does that sound?" I ask and then go back to the textbook with a pencil in hand and underline lightly a fact that I need to write down.
Over the phone I hear Noah make a sound of confirmation and then the sound of pen on paper. "That's a good idea. Okay so I'll do a type of cancer affecting majority of males then." I nod my head and think to myself...
This is a good idea because school is coed so everyone is able to learn something that affects someone and hopefully they'll be able to pass on the information.
