The music was muted. All Evangelina felt was the happiness and excitement surrounding her. Everyone was so free, the stress of classes and controlling their abilities was left behind at the school. At first, Evita felt guilty for leaving, but now, she believed they all deserved the break. Jubilee was giggling uncontrollably at a joke Summers cracked. Jean was laughing along as well, and whenever there was a red light, Scott always stole a glance of the girl behind him using the car mirror.

He was enthralled by the redheaded mutant. Her personality, her powers, everything about her was perfect. Something in Scott knew he liked her, yet it had only been a few days since they met. He let out his cocky smirk and stepped on the gas once the light turned green.

"Thanks for the suggestion, Scott," Jubilee stretched her arms up into the eternal blue sky. "I think I speak on behalf of all of us when I say, we all really need this." Her grin was shining as bright as the sun. Both Kurt and Eva agreed, their gazes locking onto each other as the blue mutant turned to face her.

Scott gave a thumbs up as he continued to focus on the road. "So, you guys want to play a game?" He asked, and almost instantly everyone nodded as a yes. "Go around the car and say a weird fact about yourself. Don't hold back. Jean quick, you're first!"

Jean furrowed her eyebrows as she began to think. She shrugged her shoulders and rolled her eyes before answering. "I hate milk. It's disgusting and I don't see why people make kids drink it," explained Grey as she crossed her arms. Eva held back a laugh.

Jubilee, who was seated beside Jean, went next. "I guess I-" For a second, it felt like time froze. Everything happened in a flash. The group drove up to the school, but once they saw the sight, they panicked. Their joyful expression dropped, and soon all the fun was replaced by fear.

There was coughing, and all five teens raced out of the car, Scott racing towards Hank, who had a solemn display on his face. "What happened? Where's Alex?" Evangelina gasped at the sight before them. The school was gone, destroyed before their eyes. She had a hand covering her mouth, Kurt stood beside her, wanting to make sure she was alright. The teen was shaking. "Where's my brother?"

A silver haired boy shrugged and looked around. He was dressed in a graphic t-shirt and a metallic leather jacket. He had goggles resting on his head, pushing flyaways of hair onto his pale face. "Pretty sure I got everybody." The boy replied with certainty.

"Alex was closest to the blast," Hank spoke up. Scott ran towards the rubble, and Evangelina, Jean, and Kurt followed. He collapsed onto the ground, calling for his brother in tears. On his knees, Scott felt himself sob, desperate for Alex to suddenly appear. His friends stood beside him, Jean placing a hand on his shoulder, and Evangelina knelt down beside him. "Alex," He continued to call out. Evangelina tugged her hands deeper into the jacket Alex Summers had given her. She gently placed her hand on Scott's other shoulder, feeling the influx of pain and loneliness his heart was feeling.
