XXV // Hide & Seek

The boys begin to sing the chorus of the song we were working on, "All we want, is a little place we can, all have fun, and I swear I won't break a thing. All we want is a little place where we can dance."

"Nice, maybe hold out thing. Like its like thingggg," I explain on the seat by my desk. Daniel nods and Zach writes it down in the notebook. 

"3, 2, -" They get cut off by Kelsey walking in with burgers and chips from In n out. "Guess who's back," she says. The boys lick their lips and snatch the food from her arms. 

"Back again," Jack sings in tune with the famous Eminem song. I giggle remembering Katherine saying if she was a rapper she would be called, 'Femeniem.'

"How's the new music coming along? Kelsey asks as she sits beside Zach at the end of my bed. The boys shrug. They disagreed too much through the process of this song, I had to sit between it all. 

"So good so far," Jonah mumbles. I smile while bitting on my nugget. Daniel looks to me with a huge grin on his face as his guitar sat on his lap on the chair opposite me. 

"Yeah, we're currently working on one that I think we might end up calling friends," Daniel says strumming his guitar and not taking his eyes off of me and my half-eaten nugget. 

He winks at me before looking down to his packet of chips. I smiled, that wink drove me crazy. No one knew about our kiss the other day, we decided to stay quiet about it. In case the others got excited. 

The thunder rumbled from outside. It was getting dark and the sky was a solid dusty grey with clouds full of rain. It was pouring down which was pretty crazy seeing as the weather said the storm wasn't due for another five days. 

"It sucks that it is raining," I say picking a chip from the packet and placing it in my mouth. I loved storms but I didn't wanna sit around and write songs for the rest of the night. "I need a break from all this music and we could have gone for a walk or something if it wasn't raining." 

"Yeah, I need a break too," Zach says agreeing with my request. Zach turns to Jack near me and grabs a chip ready to shoot it at the poor boy. 

"See if you can get it in my mouth," Jack says. I look to Corbyn and Kelsey who began grinning at one another. 

"That's what she said," Corbyn winks at her. I look to Daniel who also placed a smirk on his face. He leaned in and moved his lips slowly across my ear making shivers pour down my spine. 

"I don't know if this is not allowed in our waiting thing but that's what you said," He pulls away and winks at me. 

"DANI!" I yell, I smack his arm lightly. I felt my face go red even though I knew no one had just heard what he said. This boy. 

"You guys okay there? Wanna share with the whole class?" Zach says still holding his chip waiting to shoot it. Daniel and I cough and shake our heads in sync. I look at Zach and kick Daniel's leg. He laughs quietly. 

Zach throws it and misses Jack's face completely. It flies by my head and behind my desk. Great. I lean down and try to find the remains of the fry but I couldn't squeeze my hand through the gap. 

"Great, now I'm gonna have a deceased french fry behind my table," I say coming up from searching. 

"Do you what that reminds me of?" Kelsey says after chewing some more fries. We all look at her and shrug, "Hide and seek, we should play it! I mean there's nothing better to do in this weather," she suggested. I mean what can go wrong?

I open the attic flap door and pull the stairs down. My flashlight was really bright so I had it in my bra to lower the power. I slowly walked up the attic stairs, I knew Kelsey & Daniel were the only people who knew where this was. Kelsey was in and I felt like she would be too scared to look up her by herself so I would at least be second. 

I walk over to the left for about three steps before I feel the light string. I pull it down and the lights turn on. Our fairy lights were connected to the switch so they turned on too. I smiled at the hangout appearing. 

"You remember when we came up here the night we had passionate am-" I jump and turn to see Daniel standing at the top of the stairs. 

"Daniel if you are gonna come up here to talk about our sex life, I will hand myself in," I say. He places his hands up in defence and smiles. 

"Sorry I have just been really in love with you lately. It is driving me crazy," he says. I laugh. 

"Yeah, I bet your right hand hates it," He looks at me with his eyes wide open. "Fuck Daniel, you could have denied it." I begin laughing uncontrollably. He brings his hoodie over his head and pulls the strings to cover his embarrassment. 

I walk closer to him still laughing, "Come on we better hi-" I get cut off by the lights turning abruptly off. Shit. Power cut. "Daniel?" I ask. I move my hands around and try to feel for the boy. I feel his hand slide into mine. 

"If you went any closer we would have to have a big talk," He laughs. I feel my cheeks go red. This boy was slowly trying to make me fall in love with him all over again. And it was working. 

"Let's head back down, find the others," Daniel says as he reaches for his phone. I pull my phone out with my spare hand and then switch the light on. I hear a loud thump and crack as Daniel moves. 

"OW! MOTHER FUCKER!" Zach's squeal comes to my ear. "Daniel, what the fuck!" 

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" Daniel mumbles. His hand still in mine. I laugh. Daniel had stepped back onto Zach's hand and when he did he looked so scared it made me laugh. 

"What the fuck is happening up there?" Kelsey asks. The group had emerged from their spots and showed up at the bottom of the stairs. I pull my hand out from Daniel's. What was I doing? 

"I can explain-" Daniel says. I begin to walk downstairs and interrupt his words. 

"When the lights went off Daniel couldn't see Zach crouching down behind this box by the stairs and stood on his finger," I chirped. 

"I feel so bad," Daniel says helping Zach down the stairs. Zach death glares Daniel and Daniel looks and me with the 'help me' look. 

"It was kinda funny though," I giggle. 

"Guys I think my fingers broken," Zach states. We all look at one another. To the hospital it is.
