In the south province of the city, the street were filled as usual, people of many races and ages walked about. Apartment buildings lined the streets, residents can be seen yelling down from their windows to people on the sidewalk. The sky was littered with many ships some meant for space travel and some that was meant to stay in the atmosphere. The spaceships where identifiable by their enormous size and huge engines, while the planetary ships where small and had sometimes lacked visible engines. Some ships where rectangular in shape and were painted with red lines along the sides of them, these ships are the ships of the empire many of which are military.
K was walking to Jax's home that was was down the street. While walking places K often observed everyone and everything around him today was no different. Many of the people were extremely kind and friendly often talking to K if they where just happen to be walk next to him. But to him their smiles were fake. On the street corners there are people protesting against the empire, often chanting a gimmicky lines. But to K they were people yelling false hope. K always avoided such crowds as they where magnets for empire enforcement. Anti-empire posters and graffiti can be seen in alleys from the sidewalk. But all K saw was meaningless thing that would cause more problems than than good.
Jax's apartment was bigger than K's, instead of it being one room it was more house like. It had hallways and many rooms with a family room. K had a spare key to the apartment so he just walked in. He was greeted by two children. A boy and a girl. The boy was much taller than the girl and wore a t-shirt with a cartoon character on it. The girl wore a simple skirt and help a stuffed bear in one arm.
"Uncle K!" yelled the children as their faces lit up at the sight of K. The children ran up to K and hugged him around his waist and leg.
K knelled down and hugged the two back. "Look at you two, you guys got bigger since the last time I've been here." K said to them with a smile.
A women then came around the corner was tall and slender with long hair that was tied back into a ponytail with some hair still lose in the front. Her face was lightly peppered with freckles that highlight her green eyes. She wore tightly fitted pants and a light blue sleeveless collared shirt.
"Oh, K you're here." The lady said with smooth and vibrant voice.
"Hey, Max" K said to her in a cheerful manor.
"My name is Maxine, stop calling me Max." She said to K with a neutral voice.
"No thanks, Max takes less to say, you know I'm lazy." K explain still with a smile on his face.
"Rachel, Jack go wash you hands, we are about to eat." Maxine said to the children.
"OK!" The kids said as they ran down the hallway.
Maxine gestured K to follow her with a simple wave of the hand. So K stood up and followed her into the family room where Jax was sitting on the couch.
When the two entered the room, Jax looked at K and said"What's up man, what was it you wanted to talk about?"
"I'll tell you after dinner, its not the best of news but it can wait" K replied.
"Alright, if you say so." Jax said as he nodded.
"So what's on the menu?" K responded.
Maxine gestured toward the kitchen and said "Jax cooked some steak and vegetables, the kids are having chicken."
The children came running through the family room and into the dining room and sat at one of the long sides of the table. They where kicking their legs exited to eat.
"Well I guess that our queue to go sit down." Jax said as he stood up and walked into the kitchen to grab the food to place it on the table. As he was doing this K and Maxine sat at the table along with the children. K sat opposite of the children while Maxine sat at one of the short ends. The dining room at a window on the wall look out to a river and a landing station for the ships.
