"Oh my goodness, you guys, it's been forever!!!" Jyunko yelled to the top of her lungs as she gathered Tami, Kara, Yuri, Kenta and Haruki in her arms and gave them the biggest bear hug she could muster.

It had been weeks since the group had been together like this.

From that fateful day when Jin Namba mentioned their assignments at Public Safety, to as well as Maria Sato who had given specific orders of workload while during the Metro PD rotation, the group barely saw each other.

"I know right?" Tami agreed as she returned the hug eagerly.

"How have you been, Tami?" Jyunko asked once the others had taken their seats in front.  She was well aware of what had happened and felt guilty having suggested that Tami take the initiative and confess to Nomura.

Jyunko had taken it to herself to watch over Tami and see that she was doing ok.  It had been a month since she had last spoken to her, but she made sure to text her friend each day to check up on Tami's mental condition.

Tami Hayase's visits to her psychiatrist had been much less frequent as there was a massive improvement to her anxiety that she had already been weaned off her medication.

She was on a month's trial to see if she would not relapse, but nonetheless, it didn't irk her to be touched anymore.

It still made her feel uncomfortable, but at least she wasn't in pain.  It was a good sign.

"Getting better each day," Tami smiled earnestly.  "Nomura actually apologized over the whole thing a week ago."

Jyunko's eyes bugged out.

"Seriously?"

"Uh huh," Tami shrugged nonchalantly.  Jyunko knew this topic made it uncomfortable for her friend so she left it at that.

"So, how's it going on with Lieutenant RBF?"

This time, Tami found her first smile for that day.

"His name is Seiji Goto, I mean Lieutenant Seiji Goto," Tami teased.

Jyunko raised a brow over the cover-up.

That was definitely too telling.

"I could have also meant Ayumu Shinonome, but yeah.  As long as you're happy Tami--"

"Oooh, is it hot in here or what?" Kara laughed as she scooted in between the two.

"Nothing is going on, Kara," Tami rolled her eyes in protest.  She was already flushed with embarrassment as it was and her team was definitely not letting her up in the hot seat.

"We definitely need to bond after this!" Yuri said, already having thought of a nice place where to have lunch.

"Definitely," Kara agreed as she looked at the coordinates of the new restaurant they were to go to, excited to hang out with the Scoobs once again.  "You owe us some juice, Detective Hayase."

"Where are headed for later?" Tami desperately wanted to change topic.

"There's a new iHop near Station the restaurant," Yuri lifted her phone as she showed the group the coordinates.

"Ooh, nice score Yuri!" Kenta and Yuri gave each other high fives.

Yuri had managed to reserve enough seating for the group in advance, as she had won the tickets at a raffle.

"Can't wait to try out their pancakes," Haruki Kenshin agreed happily.  He was about to say more when a tall man with a shock of burgundy spiked hair and glasses entered the room.

Everyone stood up and gave Dr Rikiya Hata a salute.  He nodded towards their direction as the group took their seats.

"Good morning, Detectives," Dr Hata said acerbically.  He was his usual unemotional self as he pushed his wire rimmed glasses up his face.

He then cleared his throat.

"I'm sure you all know by now why you are gathered here."  He nodded towards the files of which each Detective had read over the night before the meeting ajourned.

The Detectives nodded.

They all had read the file the night before the briefing.

None of them spoke up as they knew Dr Hata hated to be interrupted.

In his arms, Hata held a pile of Manila envelopes of which he passed around as each Detective helped themselves as they delved more into the case.

Inside, was a highly classified paper review of a case filed by the the Heavenly Holdings Group against a bomb threat letter they received from a terrorist group called the Dark Angels.

Heavenly Holdings is an International Holding company which owned many talent and communications agencies around the world.

One of their main stocks involved many celebrity events, of which included the upcoming Miss Celestial Galaxy.

Miss Celestial Galaxy  was one of the most prestigious Annual international beauty competitions.  Unlike its other counterparts, Miss Celestial Galaxy does not change their Beauty Queen title holders annually.  Instead, the organization relied on the same timeline as to how the planet Mars would orbit around the sun, of which is technically 687 days, or nearly every 2 years.

Therefore, the platform of the winner was much more detailed.  The winner was also heavily involved in many charities and non-government organizations which also donated generously should the winner come from an impoverished country.

Dark Angels on the other hand, were a secret organization that was said to have started as a cult group of Vegans and Antivaxxers from a rich suburban area in California of which had gained notoriety having had done attacks against celebrities who were known for being publicly vocal against vegetables or have claimed to support "cruelty-free" products but were exposed to have been lying.

"I'll be brief about this first half of the meeting," Hata said, as he gave each Detective the stink eye which hinted that there was definitely not going to be a lunch break as the matter was serious.

"Later, we will have another meeting with each unit heads from Public Safety and Metro PD to discuss the matter.  I trust you guys can sacrifice a bit of your lunchbreak for the sake of our Superiors who will do the same as well," he had definitely heard his unit's chatter about their bonding.

"Yes sir," the Detectives agreed as they kept a poker face.  After all, this was definitely not the first time something like this came up.

"Ok then, let's begin the briefing." Hata opened his file as he gave a cold, steely smile.

If you like the songs lifted from the novel, they were also the same songs that were my mood music to play whilst writing The Sakura Files.  Someday, I'll come up with a playlist for anyone interested and write it at the end of the book as an added bonus :)
