Valeska’s p.o.v

Fuck. Why did I shout at him?! Couldn’t I just have taken it easy?

I fell to the floor but quickly stood up again, I can’t have him ruining this. I just can’t. I need to win and he can’t get into my head.

Stay focused Valeska. Focus.

The elevators doors opened but before I got in I remembered that Cayden left his hoodie here. I jogged up to it and picked it up, before quickly sliding it over my head. Cayden’s scent filled my nostrils and I instantly relaxed. I walked over to the elevator and pushed the button for the arena and the doors closed. A silent tear fell down my cheek and onto Cayden’s hoodie, but I quickly wiped it away with the sleeve and putted on the hood that I was literally drowning in.

I really fucked it up this time. Cayden has never gotten mad at me no matter how much of a bitch I have been, but I guess he snapped now. Another tear fell down but I just wiped that away too before the elevator came to a stop. I stepped out of the elevator and I was greeted by the familiar scent of sweat. Gross. I walked over to my changing room as I saw my bodyguards came up behind me. What? I’m popular. In the changing room waited Martino with facts about my opponent.

“Sup, Lightning” Martino said.

“Sup” I muttered in response.

I began warming up as he told me about my opponent.

“Okay, Lightning, your first opponent is an old classic. The Sizzling Snake. No biggie, saw him do his routine, nothing unusual, but he has to do something to still be alive. Watch out for surprises” said Martino.

I nodded and he got up behind me.

“You fought with Cayden?” he asked and began massaging my shoulders.

“Yeah, I shouted at him, he got mad and left. I don’t even know if he’s going to watch me fight tonight” I sighed and wrapped my arms around Cayden’s hoodie.

“He's here, I promise. It’s his hoodie, right?”

“Yeah, it makes me relax"

“That’s good, lil sis, now go out and make you boyfriend proud” he said and hugged me.

“He’s not my boyfriend” I mumbled.

“Not yet, Lightning, not yet”

And with that he pushed me out of the changing room. I stood in the corridor just before you enter the arena and waited for my name.

“IN THE FIRST CORNER WE HAVE THE SIZZLING SNAKE!!!” said the commentator and the crowd went off.

“AND IN THE SECOND CORNER WE HAVE THE LEGEND, THE MYTH, THE ONE AND ONLY, LIGHTNING!!!” he said again and I stepped out into the arena.

The crowd was crazy but I just looked at my reserved seats to see if I saw Cayden but I didn’t. He wasn’t going to watch me after all…

Looking down in the ground feeling gloomy before I lifted my eyes of the ground to see in the middle of the crowd stood Cayden, in all his glory. Just knowing that he watches me made me relax and feeling a little safer and more confident than usual. I walked up to the judge and bro-hugged him before going to my corner.  Against my own will did I pull off Cayden's hoodie and threw it at Martino.

“You go girl” he said and gave me thumbs up.

I scoffed at his comment and made my way to the middle of the ring.

“THERE IS NO USE IN TAKING THE RULES, IF YOU DON’T KNOW YOU’RE EITHER NEW AROUND HERE OR HIGH AS FUCK” the commentator said before giving it to the judge to start us.
