EXACTLY THREE YEARS AGO a newly turned fifteen year old Hope Mikaelson lost both her parents and her uncle within a short timeframe.

Every year on the anniversary of their deaths, Agent Hope Kenner took time off to go to New Orleans and be Hope Mikaelson again. Her family had a reunion in their old home, the Mikaelson Compound, and spent time remembering the sacrifices that the three had made to keep Hope and even the world safe.

Hope spent a long, tiring day catching up with her aunts, uncles, her new cousin Finley(Freya and Keelin's son), and her adoptive brother. Everyone trickled back to their bedrooms at the compound to go to sleep. Hope instead found her way to the infamous bench that her father and uncle perished on.

The girl sat down with a somber expression, the only light coming from the lampposts that were littered around the lively city. Hope could easily hear the bustle of the city with her super-hearing as she thought about her family that she lost.

Hope spent the last three years as S.H.I.E.L.D. doing what she promised her father she was going to accomplish, doing good by their name even if she was using the last name of her former step-father.

Hope couldn't help but still feel guilty every time she met up with her family and noticed how happy they were. She still believed it was her fault that Elijah, Klaus, and Hayley weren't able to live the lives they deserved.

Hayley died because of her selfish plan to try and lure her dad back to New Orleans. Her father died taking the dark magic from the Hollow that was killing her. Her uncle decided to die alongside her father, not wanting to be in a world without his little brother or the love of his life. All of it connected to her and the decisions she made. All of it.

As Hope mentally drowned in her own self-loathing, she picked up a familiar scent and heartbeat that has only been in New Orleans one other time, when she was recruited for her current job. The familiar presence calmed her, anchored her.

"Hello Phil" She greeted before finally looking up from her hands to meet the eyes of her mentor. The man looked quite out of place in his suit and tie compared to the normal partygoers of the city.

Phil couldn't help but smile at the girl. He was the one who recruited her and never regretted it for a second even though she had been fifteen at the time. In any other circumstance she wouldn't have been able to join but with her supernatural knowledge and being one herself, she was able to join early.

"Hope" Phil sat next to the auburn haired girl. The two sat there in silence for a little while before Hope spoke up. "Do you have a new assignment for me?" She questioned, attempting to compose herself despite the waver in her voice as she sat in the exact same spot her father and uncle mutually killed each other.

"You know I wouldn't be here if it weren't an urgent matter" He started, trying to be sensitive as he knew it was a hard time for Hope. "Are you here for Agent Hope Kenner or Hope Mikaelson?" Hope sent an intimidating look, a tiny smile contrasting her attempt to do so.

"We need Hope" Phil looked around, making sure nobody was near, before continuing. "Barton has been compromised. His mind was taken over by the trickster god, Loki. I'm sure you've heard of him" Hope blinked, trying to process the information she was given.

Clint Barton had been one of the agent's who aided in training her. She was rather close with him and had even gotten to meet his family. To hear that he was being controlled, it made her determined to get him back. She didn't want his children to lose their father, not like she had.

"How soon do you need me?" She inquired. "As soon as possible" Hope sighed softly before nodding, letting Phil know that she was in. Phil never doubted for a moment that she wouldn't say yes.

Hope knew this meant leaving early, which would raise concern within her family. But she had to do it, to make her parents proud and save a fellow agent. A typical day in the office.
