George and Richard became close friends after that. With each passing day, feelings for each other developed, becoming stronger and stronger. They bottled up those feelings though, afraid that one misstep, one little trip, one little phrase, could ruin their entire friendship.

So, they stole glances at each other because to them, in their own heads, their feelings weren't reciprocated.

"Hey, Georgie?" Richard asked on their way to their houses. He just had to know the answer. "Do you like anyone?" George's face went red.

"Well... uhm... yeah, I do?" George's answer came out more as a question than a statement.

"Oh." Richard's eyes saddened. "Well? Who is it?"

"I don't really want to say," George replied.

"Why? Is it someone I know?" Richard asked him.

"It would be kinda weird if you didn't Ritchie."

"Is it Pete?"

"Ew, God no. Why would you say that? He bullies and sexually harasses me every other day." George said, clearly offended.

"Sorry, sorry, just had to confirm that it wasn't that sick bastard." Richard apologized, sounding a little relieved that it wasn't Pete.

"It isn't John either. I wouldn't do that to Paul."

"So, you've now confirmed that whomever this big crush of yours is a dude."

"How did I?"

"Well, when I asked if it was Pete, you were only offended by who it was, not by the gender of the person. Then, you confirmed the next question by saying it wasn't John, who is the same gender as Pete. Gender is a guy."

"Wow," George said, kinda astonished, though he would've made that connection if he were actually thinking.

"Goodbye, George. See you tomorrow." Richard salutes as he walks up to his driveway.

"Bye, see you tomorrow." George reciprocates.

The next day, though, George wasn't at school, and that worried Richard. At lunch, he asked John and Paul.

"Where's George? I haven't seen him today." He asked.

"Aww, little Ritchie is worried about his baby Georgie. Isn't that cute Paul?" John teases, causing both Paul and Richard to roll their eyes.

"Seriously though, where is he today?" Richard asked again.

"He said that he wasn't feeling well today, so he stayed at home," Paul said, finally answering his question.

"Oh." Was all he could say to that.
