Jonathan steps into the room and surveil it quickly before ushering the person behind him into the room. The moment Kassie made eye contact with the woman standing in her office. She nearly faints.
She closes her eyes and re-opens them quickly. Confirming that in fact it is, Jo the Grammy award-winning, pop singer/dancer and actress and her beautiful daughter, Ella on her hip.
"Get it together Kassie. You got this. You are a professional!"
Taking an internal sigh Kassie finally speaks, "What a pleasure it is to meet you Ms. Jo!"
"Thank you," the soft-spoken woman says. She reaches out with her right hand to shake the event planners.
"Please, have a seat. Can I get you all anything? Water, juice, tea or coffee?" the curly head woman asks as they all take their seats. Both of the new occupants in the room shake their head no.
"Okay, so what brings you here, Ms. Jo? You're a long way from home, right?"
Jo laughs.
"Yes, I am but I was here visiting friends and was in need of a good event planner and you were highly recommended. Which is why I am here."
"Okay, well please tell whoever recommended me, thank you!" the event planner says as she gathers her clipboard and event checklist she fills out with her clients.
"If you don't mind moving over to my conference table in the back and we can get started on the details of your event," Kassie says in a professional tone.
Jo hands Ella over to Jonathan as the two women walk to the other side of the spacious office.
Sitting down in the comfortable office chair, Kassie makes sure to sit right next to the beautiful woman.
As she settles in, she can't help but to inhale the sweet scent that the older woman is wearing. Kassie clears her throat as she got distracted by the woman's scent.
"Alright, Ms..."
"Please, call me Jo."
The singer interrupts politely.
"Forgive me, Jo."
Kassie slides the clipboard closer to the woman sitting next to her. Jo leans in to look at the list.
"Okay. Can you tell me about your event?"
"Well actually my good friends' daughter is graduating from high school and is going off to college this summer. I told her that my gift would be to throw her a going away party. However, it's going to be a party slash concert. I already have a couple of her favorite artists that are coming to perform. I just need someone to put everything together because unfortunately, I would not be able to be there due to other obligations."
Kassie is shaking her head as she listens to the downy yet low voice. The event planner is jotting down notes from all the information that the singer is sharing with her.
They spend the next hour planning everything from the lighting, how she wants the stage for the small concert and even the color of the curtains and tablecloth.
The theme is "Black Masquerade" with purple and gold accent colors. The food will be a mixture of Cajun and Southern style, at her friends' requests and they want a purple carpet.
Finishing up some more minor details, like what artists will be performing, how many guests are they expecting and the type of chairs and tables they want, as well as, what the budget is for the party. Jo assured the event planner that the decorating budget is to not exceed over $100,000.
