To say the event planner has not had a break since her meeting with, Jo would be an understatement. A few days after that surprising — yet, welcoming meeting; Kassie was asked to be the event planner for her client, the high-profile lawyer.
She wowed his entire family and friends with the pre-reception dinner she organized for them. Everything from the crystal chandeliers that hung from the massive high ceilings, to the eight-course dinner her top chef created for the family.
Which is why the event planner has been working non-stop. Even though this wedding is not until the fall, the wealthy family has insisted that she start arranging and sending over ideas, menu's and décor sketches.
The curly head black woman had to lean on Mia and Amber to help her with some current events that was already happening; while attending to the "royal" family needs.
Kassie is sitting in the middle of her living room floor, when her front door opens. In walks the red head, Amber. She is pulling a large Louis Vuitton suitcase with her left hand and holding a stack of papers with her right.
"Ugh," B says as she falls onto the comfortable sofa.
"What's up, babe?" Kassie says as she continues to place her last-minute items in her Chanel suitcase.
"Blake and I broke up last night," the other woman says in a monotone voice.
"WHAT?" the event planner screams shockingly.
"What happened, B?"
"I caught his no-good ass cheating on me, that's what happened," the red head says as she stands up and walk towards the kitchen.
"In my own home, Kassie!" she yells from the other side of the room.
Kassie just sits there shaking her head. The couple has been together for two years and was talking marriage a month ago.
Blake was a great guy. He had his faults, like he loved to party and drink — however, he took great care of Amber. Not that she needed it because Amber was a successful and well-established woman before meeting the businessman.
Walking back from the kitchen, Kassie notices the other woman full hands. Amber has a glass of wine in her right hand, and shot of — what looks like, whiskey.
"Why didn't you call me when it happened?" Kassie questions. "You know I would have come over."
"I know you would have, that's why I didn't call you," Amber replies.
She takes the shot in her hand, "plus I knew you were tired as hell with those two events yesterday, so I handled it on my own."
Kassie just look at the other woman with concern and empathy.
"Don't give me that look, Kass. I'm good. I suspected that he had been doing something. I just never had any proof...until now," the woman says softy.
Silence is hanging in the air as both women process the information that was just shared.
"Well you know what, B? Screw him! You are an intelligent and amazing, not to mention fucking hot, beautiful black woman. Any man who doesn't see what a prize you are, doesn't deserve you. So, pick your face up. Go pour us both a shot and let's get ready for our trip. We leave in a few hours and the girls will be arriving soon." Kassie explains to the sad woman.
Taking a deep breath, the red head stands and walks back to the kitchen. Amber re-enters the living room to see Kassie turning her stereo up and music begins to play.
"Look we are going to Las Vegas for two days, so let's make the best of it." Kassie says as she starts to pour some shots.
"We are going to be turnt up the whole time we are there. Especially while we are at Jo's show."
