A Love Story: The Singer and the Fan

Chapter 13: You, Me and Ella

Jo is awakened by the sun that has drifted through the large hotel windows. She normally closes them before going to bed, but last night was very stressful for the couple. She looked over to the left at her two sleeping beauties, Kassie and Ella. They are wrapped completely in each other's arms.

Ella must have gotten sick again in the middle of the night because Kassie is slightly sitting up against the headboard, with Ella in her lap and a white cloth is against her daughters' head.

The little girl looked so small wrapped in her girlfriend arms. Her curly bed hair is covering most of her face while it is resting comfortably on Kassie's chest.

The singer got up and walked to the en-suite bathroom and turned the shower on.

She needed to get ready for rehearsal this morning and didn't want to be distracted by her beautiful girlfriend.

30 minutes later, the singer walks out of the bathroom completely dressed and ready for the day.

She has on some loose grey joggers with a matching Champion sweatshirt and some all-white Nike tennis shoes.  

Jo grabs the thermometer on her side of the bed and sits on the edge of mattress to take her daughter's temperature.

"Oh, thank God," Jo says with a relieved tone.

The singer reach over to pick the little girl up and startles her girlfriend.

The fan instantly held on tighter to the body laying against her as she jumps out of her sleep.

"I'm sorry babe. I didn't mean to wake you," Jo whispered.

"She okay?" Kassie questions as she looks down at the still sleeping two-year-old.

"Yeah. I just took her temp and it's completely back to normal."

"Thank God," the fan mimics the older woman words of praise.

Kassie places her hand on the top of Ella's head and then the back of her neck to verify that the little girl is not still warm.

The event planner lets out a sigh of relief at finding Jo's daughter body temperature back to normal.

The fan looks up and notices the clothes that the singer had on.

"Where are you headed?"

She questions the older woman who is now packing what looks like a gym bag.

"I have rehearsal in 15 minutes. I didn't want to wake you because I saw that you were up with her late last night," the singer explains as she moves to the other side of the bed, so she is closer to the younger woman.

"Yeah, Ella was whimpering in her sleep last night. She was running a little hot, so I got her a cool towel and some more Pedialyte.

I think she had a bit of nausea but after about 30 minutes of cuddling, she went back to sleep."

Jo smiles at her girlfriend and leans in to kiss her. The singer tries to convey her appreciation with the simple, yet passionate kiss.

Both women pull away slowly and gaze into each other's eyes.

"Thank you so much for taking care of her. I must have been really tired because I didn't hear a thing."

"It's okay baby. You actually did wake up, but I told you not to worry and you went right back to sleep," the curly head woman giggled.

Jo shakes her head with a chuckle and lean in to kiss Kassie once more before getting up.

"I want you to get some more rest too. The nanny is waiting right outside in the living area for Ella to wake up. She will take care of Ella while I'm at rehearsal."
