According to fucking Wikipedia, there was a feud about the Lordship of Ireland that started in 1171 and ended in 1541, and if I'm reading and comprehending correctly, the Lordship (also referred to as Norman Ireland). In the late 13th and early 14th centuries the Lordship went into decline and some Anglo-Normans rebelled against the English administrations. And the English decided, "Fuck you." and basically made taking up Irish laws, language, customs, and dress illegal. And that shit ended in 1542 with the making of the Kingdom of Ireland.
Soooo, that leaves some room, I guess. BUT IM CONFUSIONNNN.
