Today Dianne and I were taking a trip to Wiltshire to visit my nan and grandad.
We were telling them our news, I was so excited to tell them. Dianne was now five months pregnant, her bump was really neat. You wouldn't think she was five months at all. She hasn't put any weight on at all, she's all bump.
"JOE"! I hear Dianne shout from upstairs. I run up the stairs almost losing my balance, and run into the bedroom. "You okay? What's wrong? Is the baby o-" I'm interrupted by Dianne grabbing my hand, and placing it on her belly. "Oh my god, Di. He's kicking." I speak, clearly getting emotional. "I know. That's why I shouted you." She giggles. "Wow. That's an amazing feeling." I say. One that I'd never tire off. "I know, feels a bit strange, but it's amazing. He's going to be a footballer, the way he's kicking me." Dianne says. "Is he hurting you?" I ask. "No it's just uncomfortable." She says. I nod, moving my head down to her stomach and talking to our son. "Hey bud," I start. "I'm glad your okay and active, but you can please look after your Mummy? She's a bit uncomfortable at the moment. You're definitely a kicker aren't ya?" I chuckle, as he kicks again. "please don't inherit the Sugg calf genes." I chuckle, imagining him with my terrible calves. This causes Dianne to laugh. "They're not that bad." Dianne giggles. "I like your scrawny little legs." She jokes. "Hey!" I pout, crossing my arms, jokingly. "your mean." "I'm just joking. I love everything about you, even your scrawny little legs." I chuckle. "Come on, trouble, lets head to Wiltshire." I say, letting Dianne finish getting ready.
//// Pulling up outside my Nan and Granddad's house, I can see Dianne getting emotional. I turn to look at her, rubbing her hand with my thumb. "Hey, you okay?" I ask, worry laced in my voice. "I'm fine, I can just picture how happy your granddad would be, so it's making me quite emotional." Dianne admits. "You big softie," I laugh, as my Nan opens the door. "hi Nan." I smile, pulling her in for a hug, as Dianne does the same.
She was wearing an oversized shirt, to hide her bump, because she didn't want to give the game away. "How are you, lovey?" My Nan asks Dianne as she sits down. "I'm very well, thanks, Carol. How are you two both doing?" She smiles, as my Nan brings Dianne her water. "thank you." "We're both great, my love. What a lovely surprise it is to have you here." Nan says. "Yeah, we have a reason for that." I speak, as Granddad comes and sits on his chair. "Oh?" Nan says. "Are you making an honest woman of her?" Granddad asks. "Not yet Granddad. We're in no rush for that." I chuckle.
I look to Dianne, who is smiling. I take her hand in my mine, rubbing it ever so slightly with my thumb.
Dianne's POV
"The reason we are here, is because," Joe pauses. "your going to be great-grandparents." He finishes. "What?" Carol looks at us both, as I nod and I smile. "We're having a baby, Nan." Joe smiles, rubbing my belly. "Wow. Oh my goodness." Carol grins. "Ya alright Granddad?" Joe asks. "I'm getting a great grandchild?" He asks. "You are, Chippy. A great grandson to be precise." I say. "A boy? Your having a boy?" Carol speaks, we nod, and smile. "they're having a boy." "Another Joe around." Chippy jokes. "I know, poor Dianne." Joe jokes back.
I giggle. "Come here." He gestures to me, I stand up and walk towards Chippy. "can I?" He asks, pointing to my stomach. I smile. "Of course." He places his hand ever so gently on my bump, causing him to kick.
I can see Joe out of the corner of my eye, smiling as he's filming his reaction. "Wow he's kicking me." "He must know your his great granddad." I say, tears streaming down my face.
His reaction was the cutest.
He was genuinely so happy and so thrilled about our news.
He had tears in his eyes the whole time. Such a sweetheart of a man he is, and I know our son will be so loved by him.
I honestly couldn't ask for a better family for my unborn son to have.
Not only will he have the best dad in the world, but he'll have the best aunties and uncle's, but also have the best grandparents and great grandparents.
