I headed back to the hospital. I had gone back home to get Dianne some fresh clothes. They had to keep Teddy in overnight, just to make sure he was fine. So I stayed at home for the night. But I hadn't slept. I can't without Dianne.
I'd also gone to get an engagement ring. But I was asking Mark, I needed to. Its important to both me, Dianne and her family. So I was doing that.
Walking back into the room, the sight in front of me melted my heart.
Dianne was snuggled on the bed singing to Teddy, I had the biggest grin on my face.
I snapped a quick picture, before walking over to my new family.
''Hey,'' I whisper, seeing Teddy had fallen asleep. ''good morning.''
''Morning.'' She smiles, whispering. I take Teddy from her arms, and place him into mine.
I stare down at him in my arms. I still couldn't believe he was mine. Ours.
''Joe, you're in love aren't ya?'' Dianne whispers.
''I am. With you, and Ted,'' I smile, placing a kiss on her lips. ''I've got a present for ya, but I need to do something first though.'' I say just as Mark walks in.
Dianne must have clicked because she smiled a little.
''Morning, Dot, Joe.'' Mark says.
''Morning,'' I smile. ''Mark, can I borrow ya a sec?''
He nods, before I lead him outside. ''Is everything alright, son?'' Mark asks.
''Yeah fine,'' I take a deep breath. ''I've got a question to ask.''
''I think I know what you're going to ask,'' He starts. ''but go ahead.'' He smiles.
''Mark, can I marry your daughter?'' I ask, scratching my neck nervously.
I hear Rina squeal from behind me, I smile. ''Joe, I'd be honoured and love nothing more. You have my blessing. Our blessing. So yes, you can marry my daughter.'' I smile.
''Thank you.'' I whisper.
''Can I see it?'' I nod, pulling the box out of my pocket. ''wow.'' Rina says. ''its perfect.''
''Do you think she'll like it?'' I ask.
''Joe, son, she'll love it. Because it's come from you, but it's perfect.'' I nod.
''Go on.'' Mark pushes me back into the room. ''good luck.'' He whispers.
''Joe?'' Dianne asks, as I walk closer. ''are you alright?''
I get down on one knee, seeing Dianne's eyes fill with tears as the biggest smile is placed on her face ''I know I've already asked you but I want to do it properly,'' I start. ''you Dianne Buswell are incredible. You've had my heart for four years now. And last night you gave me the best thing in the world. My son.
