Half of my day has passed and I am enjoying my solitary lunch here at the school cafeteria. It didn't bother me if I will stay like this for the rest of my college days. Besides, I'm used being alone.
"Hi. Can I share a seat with you?" asked a man when he placed his meal in front of mine. I remember him. He's from the Biology class. The one with pitch black eyes. I stared first at his eyes before I answered.
"Do as you please," I said.
"Thank you," he smiled and sat down.
"By the way, I'm Dien Livingston. We haven't got the chance to know each other a while ago." he held out his hand for a shake which I took hesitantly. So, he is THE Dien.
"I'm Gabrielle Creed. It's nice to meet the first soul to notice my existence," I seized my hand and hid it under the table.
My pulse is rising and my heart beats even faster the moment we touched. I wonder what's wrong with me.
"You'll find some friends here. I can be one," he smiled again. He's really good at it. And it makes him sinfully handsome.
"I've heard that you are a scholar. From what school are you?"
"Saint Gabrielle's Academy."
"I see. It's a Catholic school, right?"
"Yes, it is." I took a bite of my lunch but I stared at him again when I heard him chuckle.
"Is something funny?"
"Nothing. I just noticed that you keep on holding your cross pendant as if you're scared that a fiend is going to attack you any moment from now. Relax, no one here will eat you up alive." Then he chortled again.
"It's not funny. I'm just nervous. That's all," I continue eating my meal. This conversation is already annoying me.
"I'm sorry," he said smiling.
"Look, Brielle." I looked at him.
"How did you know my nickname?"
"Wild guess? Never mind about the nickname. Look you are special. In some ways, you are. Just don't mind others' opinions. Don't bother yourself with thoughts that can hinder your dreams. Just be yourself."
"Why are you telling me these things?"
"I don't know. Sometimes, I just feel like speaking my mind," he said and began to finish his meal. "Bon apetit."
The first day has ended. It's quite exhausting but worth my time. I enjoyed a lot especially the lessons. Yeah, yeah. I'm being a nerd again. I guess that girl in Biology Class is right, I really am a nerd.
I poured milk in my glass before going to my room. I need to get ready for the next day. There are so many things to accomplish. It was my first day but the professors already gave some projects and things to research on.
"Just don't mind others' opinions. Don't bother yourself with thoughts that can hinder your dreams. Just be yourself."
I smiled, remembering what Livingston told me a while ago. That guy is something more than his godly looks.
