"Dien, won't you invite your friend for dinner?" a man in mid-60's said as he moved swiftly down the stairs.
I stared at him. His voice is of velvet but I could sense some authority in it.
"How are you, dear? I am Daemon, Dien's father. I appreciated your coming here. Would you mind if you join us for dinner?" he said and held my right hand with both hands.
"She's about to go." Dien said. I really can't understand why he's acting that way.
"How rude of you, son. Let her speak." Mr. Livingston told Dien. There is something spine-chilling in his voice.
"Well then, Gabrielle. Are you going to decline the request of an age old man like me?"
"Ah.." I first stared at Dien who is now silently gazing at his father. "I would love to, Sir. Thank You."
I looked into his deep black eyes. He has Dien's black eyes.
"Dinner will be served soon. Dien, please assess our guest. Make her feel like she's home. Excuse me, dear, I have a phone call to make." He smiled before going up the stairs again.
"What in hell are you doing here?!" he faced me, he sounds irritated with my visit.
"I'm.. I'm just worried about you. You haven't gone to school for two weeks now. I thought those men caught you. Good thing you're safe. Are you sick or something?"
"I'm fine. You shouldn't have come here in the first place." He said. I am really confused about his mood.
"What's your problem? I can't understand you, Dien. If you want me to go, then I'll go. I'm sorry for bothering you."
I was about to walk away but he held my hand and kissed it gently then rested his cheek on its back. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
"I'm sorry if I acted like a jerk. Don't go.. please.. just.. just.. stay with me. I want you to stay beside me.. always."
He looked at me with those eyes and just the same my heart seems to melt the moment our eyes met. He's really good at it.
"O-okay.. You're really weird. Do you know that?"
He smiled. The same kind of smile that I always love to see.
"Yeah, I know. When it comes to you, I feel like doing some weird stuffs."
"So you're blaming me for that?" I asked, acting as if I was hurt. "No.. It's a good thing actually. Because of you, I am able to be good. Thank you."
"C'mon, spare me the drama." I smiled at him. Our talk was interrupted by Mr. Watson.
"Young Master, dinner's ready."
"Carry on." Dien answered. Without a word he held my hand and walked me to the dining room.
Dien's father asked some things about my family and even talked about how Dien was when he was just a little.
Every now and then, he makes me laugh with his jokes. He's really fun to be with. But Dien, on the other hand, seemed to be out of himself. He was distressingly silent.
...
It was already past eight in the evening when Dien took me home. He just kissed me on the forehead and bid goodbye. I'll talk to him tomorrow, besides, he said that he'll be attending classes again.
