I closed my eyes, waiting for the steel to cut my flesh but nothing came. When I opened my eyes, I saw Dien standing, his back to me. From my position I could also see that his right wing was broken.

"I will not allow you to hurt her!" he said and donned my necklace on his father. Lucifer screamed as the cross burnt his flesh.

"You're a fool!" the Devil exclaimed. He broke the chain of the necklace and threw it to my side. Holding his charred chest, he said.

"Now, you die for your deceit!" then he vanished.

Dien fell to the ground.

The sword was thrust on his body. He took it off and I could see how blood oozed from his wound.

I moved next to him and rested his head on my lap.

"Dien.. Dien.. Can you hear me.. Please don't die.." tears are streaming from my eyes as I speak.

"Brielle.. shh.. don't cry.. I don't deserve your tears.." he said. He's in pain. "I'm happy that I've protected you from him.. I fulfilled my promise.. Quite an achievement."

He managed to smile.

Even if he's excruciating in pain, he still had that smile on his face. The reason why I fell for him.

"I will call for help.. Just hang on.. Don't die on me please.." I pleaded but he held my hand before I could stand.

"No.. please.. stay here.." he was coughing out blood. Oh my God.. Please help him.

"You need to be cured. Don't be such a headstrong baby. I'm begging you, just hang on and I'll call for help. Please.." I was sobbing hard. I can't help my tears. I don't want to lose him.

"There is no need. It's the end.. I'm sorry if we have to end this way.." he said. He held out his hand and reached for my cheeks. Then he smiled again.

"I really.. don't know why I fell in love with such an ordinary.. girl like you. But.. I did.. I love you so much, Gabrielle Creed.. I love you, much as I love hell--" He coughed again.

Now more blood came out. My dress is already blood stained but I really don't care at all. All I want is to save this man.

"I love you more, Dien Livingston.. please.. don't leave me.."

I said but Dien already breathed his last and I was left there with his lifeless body in my arms.

Weeping for his loss.

No one learned about what had happened except for Watson and I. No one knows that Dien died on the night of his birthday. Watson took care of every detail. He told everyone that the family decided to stay in Paris for good.

As for me, I lived..

LIFELESS..

NOTHING'S THE SAME.

EVERYTHING WAS DIFFERENT SINCE DIEN DIED.

WHEN HE DIED.

I DIED WITH HIM.
