LEXA'S POV
I hear quiet footsteps leading to my tent and I quickly grab my blade, surely nobody would visit my tent this early?
"Lexa, it's just me", I feel my body relax as I hear that familiar gently voice and I slowly sit up, "is everything okay Clarke?"
"I'm sorry I know it's early but I didn't want to do this without asking you first, um I was wondering if I could wear some warpaint for today?"
Wow, I never thought that what she was saying last night would be truthful, she knows how much this would mean to the clans, showing how much she accepts them. I can't help but grin as I slowly stand up from the bed and make my way over to her, checking for any hidden doubt in her eyes, but when I find none I can't hold back my grin, "only if I can paint it on you".
"Of course Lex, I don't think I'd be much use at it anyway," she says with a chuckle so I gesture to a chair and turn to grab my paint "are you nervous about today?" I ask as I place a chair in front of her and sit down, wiping away any stray hairs from her face, starting to swipe fine lines across her face with paint.
"Surprisingly no, I was last night but now I'm weirdly excited."
"Excited to be put in harms way?"
"No, to be free from them and show them that I have a place to belong, will the clans be there?"
"The clan leaders will and some generals, it is best for those to see your true strength first."
"And then what will happen?"
"That depends on you Clarke, you may change your mind after today", she chuckles and gently place her hand over my free one, "never, the commander is too enticing to leave".
I try to hide my smile and concentrate on her warpaint, though the sudden contact is extremely distracting, I eventually finish and smile at my work, "would you like your hair braiding, it may be easier if it is kept out of your face."
"Yes please."
I carefully stand behind her and gently brush my fingers though her golden hair, beginning to braid.
"We will need to see how the clans react and how accepting they are of you after today, however I have faith you will win them over, and if you still wish to be one of us we can initiate you and your family into the coalition."
"And where would I go after that?"
"That is your choice to make Clarke, but if you decide to leave, I would like to take you all to Polis."
"I doubt that I will".
"Go to Polis?"
"No......I doubt I will wish to leave you", I feel her gently lean back and relax her body into mine, making me completely lose my breath, her touch sending shocks through my body.
"I will not be able to finish your hair if you keep trying to distract me".
I hear a quiet chuckle, "I don't know what you are talking about Lex".
I attempt to ignore the contact and continue braiding, though it was hard I soon finish smiling at my work and grabbing her a mirror and I have to say I have never found her more attractive. She looks like a true warrior but also kind and loving at the same time, a hard exterior but there is so much warmth hidden behind her crystal blue eyes. I hand her the mirror and she gasps as she sees her reflection, "wow thank you Lex, this is amazing", I smile and find myself completely unsure of what to say, but thankfully she breaks the silence.
