I woke up to the sound of the front door slamming and some chattering; great mum and dad are home. Waiting, listening for them to come upstairs and start yelling at me for whatever reason suited them today, but it never happened. They went to bed straight away instead, leaving me in peace. Falling back asleep I dreamt about the dance and at the end of it Xavier took me aside, took me away from everyone, away from Carmen. Outside we were the only people and he leaned in and so did I waiting for my kiss but then Carmen came outside, ruining the moment and began yelling at him, then after a while she forgave him and I was stuck there frozen as they began making out. Not sure if it’s a nightmare or not.
When I woke, I saw Josh at the end of my bed looking at me with and amused look on his face “You suck your thumb, you know? I haven’t seen you do that since you were a baby,” he said, but something wasn’t quite right his voice was the same but different “Zoë I’m sorry” his head bowed
“Huh? What are you sorry about?” I moved and sat next to him rubbing my eyes
“Amy, I went to her house to give her this necklace this morning and I heard her laughing with another guy-“
“Josh-“
“Let me finish. Please” as he said that I shut up “So I stayed standing out there listening in to their conversation and Amy she said that I meant nothing, I was nothing but a stupid jock, a fast way to the top of the school” Looking up at me eyes filled with sadness, unsure of what to do I hugged him and we sat in silence, it’s been ages since we did so. I could feel tears on my shoulder. “What did you do? Does she know that you know that she’s cheating on you?” I said quietly as we moved apart.
“No. But she’s coming over later when mum and dad are out, so imma break up with her then” he tried to smile but it didn’t stay “Zoë? How do you put up with all the shit mum and dad give you? You never seemed too fazed about anything, mum, dad.... Carmen”
“Just cause I don’t show it doesn’t mean it doesn’t faze me and for the whole mum and dad shit, I’m use to it and soon I’ll be able to get a job and move out” it felt weird giving advice to Josh, I mean he’s my perfect older brother, it doesn’t seem right but he’s my favorite person in the world.
“Zoë?” He looked up.
“Yeah. What’s up?”
“Thanks, and if you could you know not mention this to anyone” he smiled his real smile
“Well......” I smiled back at him.
“You’re the best” he stood up and ruffled my hair and walked out of my room, leaving the box with the necklace in. I opened it up and saw the necklace it wasn’t that bad. It was simple but nice.
Getting out of the shower and putting on my Black Veil Brides t-shirt and then getting into my black jeans, ripped at both of the knees (all natural, none of this pre-ripped shit). Picking up the necklace, I headed down stairs, looking for Josh he was in the lounge with mum and dad, who were seated on the couch, great this is going to be fun. “Yo, Josh you left the necklace in my room” I said chucking it to him. Josh managed to catch it with ease.
“Zoë don’t go chucking things in the lounge you might break something” Dad growled still focused on the telly.
“Sorry dad won’t do it again” I say rolling my eyes.
“I know you won’t, and don’t roll your eyes at me” we both knew that I would do it again.
“Sorry” asshole.
“You will be with that attitude” he said getting up, but before he could do anything Josh stopped him
“Hey dad chill, she’s just been busy helping me pack for most of the night last night and since early this morning, so she’s just a bit tired probably” He winked at me; I smiled back, thankful for him jumping in.
“Humph. Then why was the necklace in your room?” Dad took another step closer to me so I took a very small and weary step back.
“When I woke her this morning I also showed her a necklace I got her as a leaving present, to say thanks for the help, but I forgot to tell her it was for her” Josh looked at me with a grin. With a cautious step back dad went back to TV. Mum and dad went out somewhere just as they left the door bell went. “I’ll get it” I called running and opening up the door with Amy standing outside, hand on hip. Her makeup was caked on and she wore a halter top with beyond tight jeans. “Is Josh here?”
“What you think? He told you to come over didn’t he?”
“Ugh freak” she said shoving past me.
“Come on in.” I said sarcastically “Oi, Josh, bitch face is here” I called as Josh came to the door shoving me out of the way.
“Hey, Amy can I talk to you?” he asked, she smiled and took a step forward
“Babe you can always talk to me, you know that” she purred making me want to gag.
“Come on lets go to my room” he grabbed her hand and let her upstairs to his room.
As I sat eating a piece of toast I heard a scream and yelling from his room, that was fast they were only up there for about 5mins normally up there for hours, they were still screaming, but this time it was slightly different. “You won’t find anyone else like me” Amy yelled, storming down the stairs.
“Um that’s kind of the whole point” Josh threw back, catching her off guard. I’ve taught him well I watched as she stormed out and slammed the door. “Hey” he said sitting next to me.
“Sup, that went well by the looks of things”
“Yeah, could’ve gone worse I guess”
“Anyway, nice comeback I’m proud of you young grasshopper”
“Thank you sensei” we both laughed and I shoved the rest of the toast in to my mouth and rinsed off the plate. I thanked him for the necklace then went to my room and grabbed my skateboard from the corner of my room, deciding to try and go to the park. I picked up my phone and texted Elliott warning him about Amy coming home.

I shoved my phone in my back pocket. Opening up my window I chucked my board out of the window then I jumped too landing on the grass, looking over my shoulder, hoping mum and dad wouldn’t see me sneaking out with my board. Picking my board up I went to the park but it was already very occupied which was unusual for this time of day. I skated over to the big crowd that had gathered to see what all the fuss was about. Once I got there I managed to push my way through everyone to see 2 guys having a competition, the first guy looked like he was winning. He has scruffy blonde hair and green eyes. He was wearing vans, faded blue jeans and no shirt, showing well toned abs. The other guy had a black hoodie and dark blue skinnies; he has brown hair and blue eyes. About 5 minutes later the guy in the hoodie fell off his board causing everyone to groan in annoyance, the shirtless guy did a few more tricks then skated up in front of the crowd; the hoodie dude got up and walked off into the crowd. Shirtless ab dude hopped off his board and everyone fell silent, waiting for him to speak; obviously he had been doing this for quite awhile. “Is there anyone else who wants to challenge me for rights of the park, or is it just me and my guys who want to skate here?” He looked around triumphantly as no one spoke up. Pushing past people the few people who were in front of me and moving so I was more or less in front of him, “I will”
“Right. Seriously who is willing to challenge me?”
“Are you willing to challenge me or are you too chicken?” I called he looked down at me and laughed.
“This isn’t a game for little girls babe but you can try skate here if you do something for me” he smirked, winking at me whilst the rest of his guys laughed. I glared and rolled my eyes at his stupid joke.
“Fuck off. I guess you’re to chicken to challenge me” I turned slowly and started walking away but stopped as he spoke.
“I’m no chicken. I’ll challenge you babe but I’m not going not let you win”
“I’ll keep that in mind. What are the terms?”
“Whoever wins gets control over the park. They decide who can skate here and who can’t also if I win you have to do whatever I ask of you, deal?” he put his hand out, I just glared down at it and walked past him shoving him as I passed, leaving him standing there shocked looking like the idiot he really is.
“Are we going to skate or are you just going to stand there looking like an idiot?” I called over my shoulder. The crowd cheered for me. We both got ready and then we started to skate.
