felix wasn't sure how he should handle this anymore.
not just the situation with johnny, but his whole life. it was starting to suffocate him.
again.
it wasn't the first time he had been feeling like that, by far not. being diagnosed with depression also meant having such thoughts.
still, it was at the most inconvenient time to ever exist. ever. currently, he was in his music class, about to perform a piano piece he had worked on for more than a whole month and which shall determine about 30 percent of his grade.
really a convenient time.
when felix was feeling so down like he did at that moment, he just so happened to either forget everything and black out or to get lost in whatever he was doing, focusing on this and this only, and he never knew what would happen.
he hoped for the second option.
"lee felix!" the professor called out, abruptly dragging him out of his suffocating thoughts. he sat down behind the piano, looking into the class once again, seeing his friends.
he also saw johnny, who had music as a minor, too, as felix had learned. they locked eyes for a second, and johnny shot him a blinding smile and a thumbs up.
it seemed to help felix.
the boy smiled back shyly, placing his fingers on the tiles in a gently manner, then closing his eyes.
he started to play, fingers pressing down on the tiles with huge gaps between the notes, creating a mellow atmosphere. he had chosen a slower piece that would get a bit faster as it progressed, deploying lots of emotions. he felt like this piece was perfect to express everything on his mind that exact moment.
despair, loneliness, emptiness.
depression.
felix played and played, pressing down on many tiles, keeping his eyes shut, putting all his emotions into the presentation. he managed to completely block out his thoughts, focusing on everything around him yet nothing in particular, just playing.
then, the piece came to an end.
at first, felix didn't actually realize the piece was over, letting the deep note come to an end slowly, opening his eyes only as it was completely over.
what he didn't expect was to open his eyes to a class completely stunned, mouths agape, eyes huge, everyone slowly standing up and then, suddenly, clapping like there was no tomorrow, some even hollering his name. even his professor was clapping.
felix only manages to focus on one person in particular, though, that person being johnny and his huge smile, dimples on display, eyes crinkling up into crescents.
felix was awestruck.
he slowly stood up, making his way to his seat next to hyunjin, who hugged him. then, johnny appeared next to them, also hugging felix closely, whispering: "you did great." then, johnny went to his own seat.
the class calmed down a bit, the professor falling into a rant about how emotional felix had played, mentioning that some students had even teared up. felix was completely taken aback by the impact he could have on others.
his mind, though, only seemed to be able to register one thing for the rest of the day.
"you did great."
