In the name of righteousness....I share your feelings Leylin. So many groups of people like this. Sometimes we called some of them 'Riders'. They ride on the people's strong emotion, usually attached to race or religion.
They would do anything for the sake of their religion or race, while in fact they personally benefited greatly from the power and authority given to them while the said religion or race not going anywhere better.
