Ciara's POV
Her eyes dart to the top of the tree. Feeling trapped. Weary.
I have full confidence and faith in her. She is more powerful than she thinks. And she has the potential, the mindset to be more than this. To be all of this and then some.
A warning growl falls deaf on his ears.
I don't understand how this wolf hides his scent. I don't know why he hides his scent from me in the first place. Is he even a wolf? Or is he something else? Perhaps more dangerous, more harmful. Will he harm me with no real goal of doing so?
Perhaps being in this unsuspected situation has brought me more panic. So much that it has begun to affect my thoughts.
I just hope that she pays no heed to these ridiculous thoughts. I am just over thinking.
After a long while of staring blindly, waiting to see our opponent. I see nothing. I hear nothing.
No footsteps. No breathing. No heartbeat.
"Looking for me?" his voice reaches us.
This time it's no whisper. His voice is threatening and husky. Unlike Luke's almost feminine voice. Unlike Ian's gruff, heavy voice. His voice is dangerous.
My wolf searching, listening, waiting. Her fur slightly riled up in irritation. Tired of this annoying little game.
Minutes pass and no one makes an appearance. I know he's still here, watching me from the outskirts. Lurking.
But now, he has bored us. We begin to walk away, not bothering to show any interest to this male. Yet still remaining guarded. Ready to attack. Ready to wound. Even if we do not make it out alive, we will fight earnestly, till the end of it all.
Slowly moving away in caution. We are not going to wait. We wait for no one. Except for my mother. Except for my mate. Except for love.
For love, I will wait till the end of time. Till the end of life itself. For love, I will wait for the oceans to run dry. For the skies to darken and remain that way until love brings it's light. For love, I will wait.
I will not wait for this male who just wants to play games.
A long while is passed with no ruffling, with no disturbances. My wolf sits next to the flowing river, uninterested. Our Goddess shining from above, in all her glory.
The beauty of the night is indescribable. The darkness that clings on everything. The time of truth.
The noisy nocturnal. The twinkling stars. The sparkly water flowing gently in front of us. It almost feels like everything follows one harmonic rhythm together. I could live here forever. I can remain like this forever. I can remain here forever.
Under the moonlit sky, the chills of a presence creeps up on me.
Our feelings are proven correct. A lingering silhouette lurking in the darkness before us. The water flowing soothingly in front of him. The Moon shining down on him. On me. On us.
Yet his eyes are fixed on me.
My wolf never daring to leave his eyes. Pretending as if we know exactly where they lie. We hold each other's eyes like this. Never giving up. Never backing down.
His transformation is fast. The dark silhouette is replaced by a massive, black-coated wolf; approaching the river.
The ground shakes with each calculated step. Or at least I think I felt the ground tremble in fear.
