How can I not recognise that look? I could never forget it even if I wanted to. Even if I needed to. For it's all that I've ever craved. To be looked at with such adoration. Such love.
Hearty laughs escaping their lips. Telling of their intertwined lives. They would never separate their lives even if they were compelled to.
It's the kind of relationship that I would sell my soul for.
The colour in the picture could fade away but never would their love.
The picture probably belonging to the tall redhead in the photograph. She looks devoted to him in every aspect. She must have treasured everything. Every little moment. Every little feeling.
The way she's looking at him says it all.
The truth in her eyes. The smile on his face.
I pray I pray that there's a date on the reverse side. Or hopefully a name. Anything. I feel a strange, nervous anticipation at the thoughts of what could be waiting on the other side.
My heart hiccups with what I find. I'm face to face with what looks like a love note. I don't want to intrude but I need to know more.
Should I?
If I was the woman in the photograph would I have wanted someone to read my note? A complete stranger.
Temptation gets the better of me. I quickly send a quick apology to the Moon.
I know that I should not. It's against my morals and I really don't have the time to waste on a silly love note. I have a huge responsibility clinging to my shoulders but still I am unable to pull away.
Dear Miyah,
I write to tell you that I can never leave Beth for you. What we have is years and years of moments of love, of laughter, of smiles.
What I had with you was just a few joyful moments compared to what I have with her. We have a mate bond, a powerful connection. And we will forever have that.
The moments we've shared are precious to me but not more precious than the moments that I share with her. This is just one of the moments that I have with her; my beautiful Beth.
I'm just merely attracted to you and that's not worth leaving Beth for.
This is the last that I will ever write to you.
Alpha Craig of the Dark World Pack.
A pang of hurt makes it's way to my chest, the pain spreading all over my body and before I know it, it has encased me in all it's hurtful glory.
The tears stream down in a familiar pattern. My heart shattering over and over again as I broken phrases of the note resound in my head until finally, I am left paralysed in all my heartache.
Not only had he hurt my mother with his words but he also had the audacity to send her a picture of him with his Fated.
I can't understand which emotion owns the greater piece of me in this moment. Hurt. Sorrow. Anger. Betrayal. I feel all of it each time my body shivers with the overwhelming feelings.
I can never imagine what my mother must have felt. All that she had experienced. He was sharing sweet, loving looks with his Fated after ruining my mother's life. Whist she broke down in pain and rolled in heartbreak and rejection.
He made her the other woman.
He made my mother the other woman. He made my mother the other woman.
I don't know when the melancholic mantra lulled me to sleep. Tears still leaking out of tired, strained eyes. Nightmares slipping into what was supposed to be my sanctuary.
My sadness enveloping me in a tight lovers embrace, surrounding me and saturating me all at once. The deceitful window that I've been forced I stare at, finally shattering. My whole world crashing down before my eyes.
I don't know when my heartache had invited someone to come sit with me and surround themselves with the heartache. I can feel their steady heartbeat filling my ears a soft, stable rhythm, beating against my face.
At least my sorrow has the ability to draw someone closer to welcome them to embrace my pain.
Tears still escaping my eyes, against my wishes. His strong arms encasing me as a whole. I can feel his hands softly rubbing my back, requesting the tears to come to an end. He consoles me in the simplest of ways.
I can't find the courage to look up into his eyes. Too afraid to find them filled to the brim with pity. I could easily open my senses and take in the scent like Seth taught me but I'm not ready for that either.
So I lay in his strong arms, not wanting to label him. Not needing to put a scent to the comfotable touch. And just for a little while, I pretend that he's the one that I've been patiently waiting to touch.
My wolf is not happy with our actions.
She retreats to the back of my mind, engulfed in silence. Whilst I drown myself in this made up moment with my makeshift mate. My illusion.
It feeds my soul in an unnatural way. Even if we never meet our Fated, I know that I have experienced what a single moment would have felt like with my Fated. A difference in intensity for we lack the chemistry that fate had decided but an equally magical moment.
But even a moment would have still been an illusion. A greater one. One compelled by the mate bond, the mate pull and our Goddess herself.
Our mind knows this but still we yearn, we pine for that illusion. It is our strongest desire.
We wish and pray for an illusion and yet still hope for it not to be an illusion.
I entertain this illusion. Wanting to prolong this moment, this momentary comfort. I can feel the strong desire of this male wolf who simply wants to piece me together. Who wants to help me to pick myself up. He wants me to strengthen myself.
Someone who doesn't just want to rescue me. Someone who doesn't want to heal me. But he wants to figure me out in the dark hours of the night and early hours of the morning. To help me to strengthen my weaknesses and build on my strengths.
I can feel this male's muscles tense. His heartbeat starts to pick up. It starts to almost painfully thud against my ear. I can hear his teeth grind against each other. So powerful that I feel that he may shatter them.
I try and gather my wits and the courage to look up at him but I still can't. Or won't. I don't know which one.
This little illusion of mine falls away at this male's tension. I want to open my senses but I also want to be selfish and savour this momentary illusion. I don't want to open up to reality.
But I feel the need to slip into reality. I can't break the trust and faith that someone placed in me. My duty calls out to me but I can't afford to shy away from my responsibilities.
I feel the need to retract myself from this individual but I just can't and neither can he.
So we stay like this for a few seconds longer than we should.
Perhaps I should finally pull away from this moment.
I slowly start to open my eyes but the sound of the door smashing against the wall forces me to shut them. A coldness envelopes me due to the startle.
It contradicts my soft, gentle moment.
In an instance, the warmth of the individual snaps away from me. Everything now contradicting with what just happened a while ago.
Powerful growls erupt, compelling me to break away until I'm flush against the cool wall.
I'm face to face with Her. She stares at me, in half her entirety as if this is some kind of joke. She hides behind the clouds and giggles the night away. All at my plight. My life.
And just like the moon tonight, I am also incomplete. Equally incomplete...
