Chapter Thirty Eight

Sophia's POV

After a while of deciding me , Ash , Calum and Zach decided to go so the field because there is nothing to do and it was a fairly nice day for once. We sit down in a area sheltered by a tall tree.

" I like coming places like this " Ash smiles and lies back.

" I agree " I smile and breathe in the fresh air.

" The motel is hot a super nice field behind it " Zach smiles

" Yeah it's awesome " Calum says and starts a conversation but my thoughts and daydreaming stopped me from listening to their conversation, but my parents popped into my head again and I started thinking. Maybe it's because she didn't have time last year but she has more time now to answer one phone call , maybe she just is too busy but thought something was wrong when Calum phoned her. Uh I don't know !!

" Soph ??" Someone snaps , I blink a couple times to bring me back into reality.

" Huh ?" I mumble

" Were you listening ?" Zach chuckles

" Oh , sorry I wasn't " I sigh

" No problem " he chuckles again

Calum's POV

" No problem " Zach chuckles and turns to Ashton and starts a little conversation with him. I watch as Soph frowns slightly like she's thinking really hard about something. She did say she was stressed about the assignments but she also said she just couldn't be bothered so maybe she's having a down day?

A couple hours had already passed and Soph fell asleep with her head on my chest , it's only half six but it's quite cold and we're all pretty hungry , so we make our way to Nando's. Soph hasn't spoken since I woke her up and it's slightly worrying , she's still slightly frowning and it's hiding her beautiful smile. After we get food we make our way back home with the food and eat at soph's dinner table , me , Zach and Ashton were talking to each other loads but Soph wouldn't speak to any of us but I don't think Zach noticed , I told Ashton and he said he already noticed but he wanted to give her some space instead of jumping to conclusions like usual , but I wanted to help.

" Uh I'm a little tiered , I'm gonna head to bed " soph says quietly.

" Awe okay , goodnight beautiful " Zach smiles and leaves his chair to hug her , then she disappears upstairs , making me sigh.

" Well guys , I think I'm gonna go have a shower" Zach chuckles and leaves the table , leaving me and Ashton alone.

" She's not right , I don't know why " ash states

" Well duh " I reply cockily

" Don't get cocky with me Calum , I'm worried just as much as you " she replies quickly

" I'm sorry , I just hate seeing her like this , Mikey text me and asked me how she was and I replied with the truth " I sigh

" He cares just as much as we do , they had a close friendship Cal , he probably knows more about her than we do. He just has better ways of dealing with things " Ash replies

" But she's not gonna tell us what's wrong " I reply

" You don't know that Cal , she might be very open about what's wrong or she might not "

" Your being very wise tonight " he chuckles

" I just noticed that myself " he chuckles

" Shall we pay her a visit then ?" I smile

" We shall " he laughs and we both make our way upstairs. Trying to walk up the stairs quietly was terrible we kept making blocs no matter how hard we tried until we finally reached soph's door. I knocked gently and waited for a reply.

" Come in " I hear Soph say gently , me and ash both walk in and see her sitting on her bed reading a book in her pjs.

" Hey " ash coos

" Hi , you can sit down on the bed if you like " she smiles and carries on reading.

" Listen I'm gonna cut straight to the point , what's wrong ?" I say quickly

" Everything's wrong cal " she replies , her voice cracking towards the end.

" I'm gonna give you some space " Ash smiles

" Wait outside the door " Soph smiles

" Okay Hun " he coos and kisses her cheek before leaving her room and shutting the door gently behind him. I turn back to Soph and she covers her face and sobs so my first instinct was to wrap my arms around her.

" Hey , hey please don't cry " I coo , she pulls away and wipes her eyes then finally speaks up.

" So you phoned my mum ?"

" Yeah , I'm sorry I didn't tell you , it completely slipped my mind , when I saw you I was just happy " I smile

" I'm happy she has enough time to phone you " she smiles

" What ?" I ask completely confused

" Neither of them have phoned me for at least a year " she sighs and I feel a wave of guilt wash over me.

" I used my mobile , she doesn't have my number , she probably thought it was a client " I smile

" Yeah maybe " she replies softly before standing up and putting her book on the bedside table. " I'm gonna go bed now so yeh , you and ash can stay the night if you want " she smiles weekly as I walk out the door.

" I'm sorry soph " I sigh

" Don't be , it's not your fault it's mine " she replies before shutting the door leaving me and Ashton speechless and me very guilty.
