The two ended up in a space of nothingness. Keisuke could only see darkness as he floated beside the bear nekomata, trying not to feel scared of this place.
However, the bear soon conjured up a homely-looking living room, so he warily accepted and sat on the fluffy sofa.
"All right, so let's get into business," the bear coughed. "My name is Bearlynyan. I'm sorry for not mentioning my name before, but I didn't want Level 5 or Shuka to realise my presence."
"Eh? But didn't Shuka go with Kuuten? Also, who's Level 5?" Keisuke felt confused.
"First of all, Shuka is still about. She is just hidden. Second of all, Level 5 created your character," Bearlynyan gave him a quick explanation.
"Oh...." Keisuke nodded in understanding. "But why would they be around?"
"To keep an eye on you, Keisuke," Bearlynyan's face grew serious.
"O-On me?! W-Why?!" Keisuke felt a bit scared. Why are they keeping an eye on me?
"Because of your incarnation."
"Huh? Do I have one?"
"Yes, yes you do," Bearlynyan nodded. "His name is Seishun, or better known as Yuuki outside the palace."
"Outside the palace? Why use another nane?"
Bearlynyan stopped for a while, before he spoke carefully, "Well.... Seishun wasn't the kind to let others control him. So he usually went out and defended the weak, using the name Yuuki to keep anyone from realising his true identity."
"..... Was he like Ken-chan?" Keisuke's question made Bearlynyan nod, "Yeah, he was. Level 5 and Shuka didn't like that, though, so they.... Sealed him away just as he was about to betray Shuka for his freedom. By sealing him away, your courage and righteousness were taken, and they could get the 'coward' they needed for their plot."
Keisuke's eyes widened.
That feeling I've had for so long.....
That was Seishun trying to talk to me?...
"Keisuke, I'm going to be honest," Bearlynyan sighed. "Level 5 want to keep you a coward no matter what. They don't want you to be free. They don't want you to be who you want to be. They gave that to Touma, Akinori, Ayame, and your sister, but never you. Don't you feel injustice?"
Keisuke numbly nodded.
"That's why I'm giving you a choice," Keisuke blinked hearing that.
"What choice?"
Bearlynyan stunned him with his answer.
"The choice to betray your friends for your freedom."
