Episode 30: Shining with 7 billion lights

PREVIOUSLY ON:                      QUIRKS

Jungkook and the rest of the members of BTS are in the Second Task and as usual they are in the dark when it comes to what the task is actually about. This time the Second Task is being held in Thailand, except Jungkook forgot to tell his parents that he needs to fly out there. When he explains it to Heechul, his dad gives a crazed response but Leeteuk is quick to let Jungkook go and take care of his hysterical (just overly worried) husband. 

To the Second Task...

The day of the Second Task had come more quickly than Jungkook had anticipated and even though he promised both Yugyeom and Taehyung that he would play for fun rather than winning a stupid, meaningless competition, he had some unknown anxiety that morning. It was also the first time Jungkook had ever had coffee as well. But that was a small factor. Really small. The smallest. Anyway, Jungkook was jittery and bouncing slightly as his anxiety rose with each little skip in his step. He was walking into the stadium with the other competitors, they were all a little nervous.

He was standing behind BTS as he was the maknae, but also stood right next to the maknae of the girls team, BSJ. Izzy Debney. Her hair was dyed icy blue at the tips and she wore makeup to match her quirk, snow powers. "Nervous kid?" she asked.

Izzy Debney was also a year older than Jungkook. Jungkook nodded slightly making the older girl smile, "it's fine. You're going to be great, just don't mess with me," she teased.

Jungkook cracked a small smile and looked around at the other groups who were all standing beside one another. He was standing next to the Stray Kids team, right beside Jeongin. "Hey," Jungkook whispered in Thai.

Jeongin snuck a quick look at Jungkook, "hi," he whispered back, but in Korean, his mouth split into a huge grin as his braces reflected on the stadium's bright lights. 

"Are you nervous too?" Jungkook asked in  Korean.

Jeongin looked over at Seungmin and then back at Jungkook, "course I am. But Chan พี่ pumped me up with coffee this morning-"

"Me too!" Jungkook said.

"Shh!" Taehyung said, looking up front and listening to Mr Baxter's words.

Jungkook and Jeongin both giggled silently as they turned back to look at the front of the staging. "How old are you?" Jungkook asked quietly as he could.

"13," Jeongin answered. Jungkook's eyes widened and he thought that he was young, Jeongin shouldn't even be in his First Year. Jeongin noticed Jungkook's look and shrugged, "I was put two years ahead of my academic year cause I'm better at science than most people." Jungkook made an 'o' shape with his mouth and nodded. "Anyway, see ya." Jeongin bid before walking ahead with the rest of his members, he and Stray Kids all waved and bowed to the crowds. Jeongin had a cute grin plastering his face as he brought his little hand and waved enthusiastically at the crowd. Jungkook smiled a little. He liked Jeongin.

BTS and BSJ were called in next, to wave and bow and show respect towards the crowds who were cheering them on. Jungkook cringed slightly at the big noises and saw in the corner of his eye his subconscious put its hands over its ears. Jungkook smiled and shook his head, his subconscious shook it's shoulders, which indicated it was snickering. The youngest member of BTS looked over at the woman who was handing out the cuffed bracelets again, only this time they were a bit thinker and bulkier. Jungkook took one from the box she had them in, pushing the locks in place and letting his hand drop against his side.

They reminded him of the times back in secondary school when you would wear weighted ankle bracelets or wrist bracelets. Jungkook never had too, but the school's basketball and netball team did, so he knew what they were like. He looked over at his bracelet which started to light up, signalling green.
