"Artillery!"
"Grab everything you can and hurry!" yelled Officer Schulz as soldiers scrambled everywhere.
The base was being shelled a decent amount. Transportation trucks were loaded up, one had Ernst's body in it and the sack of death letters. Wilhelm watched the truck drive away until it was out of sight while shells exploded behind him. Albert stood by his side with his heart jumping in all directions while watching the sight.
"Good boy." Wilhelm said.
"He was indeed."
Dirt flew everywhere, landing in Albert's hair and getting into his eyes. Soldiers bumped into them as they ran past.
"Hurry Wilhelm!" Albert yelled as he was starting to run to the trucks.
Wilhelm did not follow, he just stood there watching the shells blow up around him. Dust and smoke made Wilhelm's figure turn blurry. Albert continued to yell at him, he did not make any movement.
"Come on boy!" yelled a soldier that grabbed his arm and pulled him to the transport trucks.
"Wilhelm!"
A shell exploded right next to him, sending the rest of him into the giant clouds of dust and dirt. Albert screamed when a man covered his mouth with his hand. He yanked the mans hand off of his mouth and tried to break free. Albert tried jumping out of the truck but it was already starting to move a decent speed.
"Shut it!" yelled one of the men next to him as he slapped Albert's face.
Albert glared at the man that was sitting next to him, he threw his fist into the side of his face. He fell on the floor of the truck in front of him. Albert fell on top of him and looked at the soldier in the eyes as he threw his fist up. He stopped until he and the rest of the soldiers all were still. Gunshots were heard all around them. There was one explosion ahead of them, one of the transport trucks ahead of them had ran over a tank mine. Yelling spread around the area. They were not German soldiers, Russians that surrounded the trucks and soldiers.
