Month Seven, Year One

'Are you guys sure?' Silas Chapman.
His room was filled to bursting point, all of the New Masons who were taking shelter at the compound were in his room right now and it left little space. Silas sprawled on his bed, on leg arched as he wrote in a book whilst his gaze went from the book to everyone else. Nate, Wolf and Bradley sat on Nate's bed with most of their attention on the plasma screen TV and the game they were playing, only giving attention to Silas when they needed to. Michael, Liam, Chris and Anthony were in the kitchen brewing a coffee or tea (or hot chocolate in Silas's case) for everyone and not looking too pleased about it. Effy and Blair spoke on her bed with their attention flittering between the group conversation and their own, as Ralphe like usual sprawled across Effy's crossed legs with a smile on his face. Hugh and Malcom looked through the bookcases encircling Silas's bed, criticizing his choice of books from the Dummies books to the fantasy, science fiction novels he had. And Birdy sitting on the bed just short of Silas's feet, his entire attention focused on his computer.
The only New Masons who weren't there were Reye who was already shacked up in her own home ready to ride out the thick snows with all of the resources Silas had given her, she stressed that communication was only going to happen if it was really needed but other than that she was not going to pay attention to her radio, instead she planned to continue working on her plans for the turbines and their placement, by spring she believed everything would be ready and she would be working people hard to get them up and working.
The other group of New Masons who weren't there were the younger years, they had taken Silas's resources as well and were now shaking up somewhere Silas did not know, on one around Silas right now knew where they were but it didn't really matter, Silas knew he had a good labour force that would come when they were called.
'Yeah.' Blair Shank + Anthony Dames + Wolfgang Harrison + Birdy McKenzie + Bradley Christof + Joshua Finkalmore.
'You've got enough people going and definitely do not need us.' Blair Shank.
'Okay fine, what about you Malcom your still good to go right?' Silas Chapman.
'Yeah man I'm still good for tomorrow. Wouldn't miss a chance to get out of Whitefall for the day and the snow tires are on so we don't have to worry about black-ice.' Malcom Lovecraft.
'Good. Since you're the only one who knows how to drive a truck, driving will definitely be your job and no one elses. What about you Nate, please tell me that you're coming with us?' Silas Chapman.
'What do you really need me for?' Nate Greene.
'Um... Um... Your charming personality?' Silas Chapman.
The closest thing to a reply that was given was when Nate started laughing followed by Silas's witches-cackle making everyone look at them, catching like wildfire it was moments before it morphed into a loud ruckus that enveloped the entire portable.
'So, is that still a no then?' Silas Chapman.
'No, but nice try.' Nate Greene.
Suspicion raised in Silas, he figured that Nate didn't want to come so instead he could keep an eye on things here and make sure nothing happens. Around Michael Nate was the most suspicious and constantly kept an eye on everything Michael done and Silas noticing this done nothing, he figured it wasn't a bad idea to have someone constantly watching even those he considered friends, but to him there were two groups of friends. There were the kind of friends that you invited into your house with complete trust they won't foul anything, then there were the friends that you never invited into your house, and Michael was one of the friends he couldn't trust but had to just until winter passed.
