Month Seven, Year One

The council watched in timid anticipation as Dominic brought out his notebook, looking over the numbers that he and his group had crunched about the produce that was brought in from Seattle. The dower face Dominic wore said too expect the worst and accompanied by the raging snows outside that constantly battered against the school, it made for a gloomy combination.
Like predicted the snows had quickly sealed up the ways out of the Miska Region within a week and now they were all stuck as the shoreline was frozen as well. Nearly everyone was now in the school and even with the air conditioner pumping they wore coats and jeans and thick shirts, whatever fought off the cold that was seeping in through unannounced sources.
The thick of winter had made getting around Whitefall hard due to the incredible clumps of snow that were falling, so now the Student Councils world revolved around the school and only the school. The New Masons who had taken up residence at Silas's compound, Reye and her brother had fortified their house, Victoria Eden and her brother and her friends had taken up residence in Courtney Freeman's house. And lastly there was Bianca Holland who was still open for business out of her own self-sufficient house, and for some reason men still made the dangerous trip to go and see her, which would usually take them nearly half a day at best.
'Okay... well. Put simply we definitely don't have enough to survive through winter. Even with strict, and I'm saying, strict rationing we'll only pull through to next month, maybe a week before spring is here and the worst of winter is done.' Dominic Marcuse.
His words were solemn as he only had bad news to give them. what followed next was undisturbed silence for a good long while, Georgi sitting at the head of the table looked an awkward mix between unchallenged ruler and pouty schoolgirl hiding her true feelings behind lips that were sulky, a face that she would never make. It was unfair to say that Georgi was a bad leader, if anything she was a really good leader under bad circumstances and for as much as Jacob thanked god that he was deposed before it started heading downhill he still felt a need to help out as much as he could. Mostly just to avoid Georgi belittling him.
The others were just as broken looking, the skin around Becker's eyes turning rose-red before she raced out of the room with no one following her, Jackson appeared to be thinking deeply and had blocked out reality completely now, Catelyn frowned as she fought a losing battle with the tears that were welling up behind her eyes & Alesha's face was blank and harder than bedrock would be if a person saw her right then they would have tried to avoid her no matter what.
'What! That's impossible, we brought in so much food. Your saying that fifteen trailer-loads and work-vehicles packed to the burst was not enough food to last use beyond the next month... and your saying that all of that food won't last us until the end of winter?' Jacob Shepard.
'The food you guys brought in was a small fraction compared to the harvest that we lost, and think about it, this food has to be spread out to over five-hundred people... the math is simply not on our side here. I'm sorry guys but if we don't do anything then we'll die.' Dominic Marcuse.
Georgi had been quiet, listening, reflecting on what was being said, and noticing this Jacob thought that maybe she was receding into her mind to a place where she didn't have to deal with all of this shit. No doubt Dominic had noticed this to and was pushing his advantage whilst the proverbial ball was in his court, and no doubt he would champion to take all the resources away from Silas Chapman.
'Look. Maybe it isn't a bad idea what Lisa said. Let's use some gas and plough our way out of Whitefall. Then migrate somewhere, we can actually survive.' Jackson Hawthorn.
