Month Six, Year One

6:09AM

Waking up to the sullen and tempered horde each morning was starting to become a chore rather than normality, Henri's bed was a cramped place in one of the hallways with beds barely three feet away from his and no dividers for privacy which meant that he went to bed with eyes on him and woke up with eyes on him.

The Event had seriously fucked with his entire life, due to everyone disappearing his supplier was gone and what drugs he had on hand soon went as well. Whatever privileges he had at the start of the Event were gone to. The last time he had been king was at Silas Chapman's party where he brought a crop that increased a person's sexual-needs making people horny, kind of like the weed version of Viagra. Doing this he made sure that everyone at that party went home with someone. Now he was just another lackey for the Student Council barely even getting fed a decent meal anymore.

His girlfriend Natasha Worthington had left him because he had run out of weed and now, she was apparently sleeping with Michael Kowalski because he had become the drug dealer of Whitefall now knocking Henri off of the top spot. This world had seriously fucked him over.

His days were dismal at best and that was all of them, after putting on his clothes and the school jumper Henri proceeded outside onto the balcony of the second floor where the students were once banded from going. Sticking his hand into his pocket Henri felt the plastic-cardboard of his cigarette-box but it didn't feel right like it was empty from any contents, this suspicion was soon confirmed as he pulled the carton from his pocket ruining his morning.

He wouldn't be able to last long without a cigarette and this packet was his only ration for this week so he wouldn't be able to get anymore from the Student Council and ever since the rationing got tighter everyone started clinging to their rations keeping them close at hand so nobody else would be willing to give him one, this only left him with the last choice, Silas Chapman.

It was thinking over this that the pain from inside his body began tearing at his lower abdomen nothing unbearable but definitely noticeable, it was this feeling that made his urge for a cigarette justified knowing that he would only feel worse and worse unless he was able to get another one. It was during this eclipse of pain and unsatisfied urges that Henri got an idea of what to trade.

Moving speedily out of the main building and through the streets using his legs more than he usually tried Henri walked the ten minutes to the supermarket through the light dropping snow. Zooming to the front tables set up to distribute meals he was making his way in Jasmine McDonald since it appeared that she was the only person on duty, the few people hanging around outside the tables obviously being people like Henri who wanted rations to trade.

'How can I help Henri?' Jasmine McDonald.

'Um, I've come to get my food ration for the day!' Henri Baker.

A worried look flashed onto Jasmine's face as she was dumbstruck with what to do since there had been changes to the rationing system. It was over hearing these words being spoken that Dominic Marcuse shot to them seemingly from nowhere. His face had cleared up from the beating Silas had given him although there were now small scars criss-crossing over his face.

'Um, sorry Henri but with the new rationing system all food will be made then given out rather than just given out. If you head back to the school, they'd probably be handing out the food right about now.' Dominic Marcuse.

'I want my ration right now! I'm not going to be spoon feed by you fucks!' Henri Baker.

The rudeness of Henri's words obviously offended Dominic making him frown at the adolescent. Henri noticed that all the seniors spoke down to the younger years, as if there one year longer of life gave them whole-authority over everything that happened, but he doubted that most of the seniors had been through what he had been through. He was a survivor in the old world and in the new world he was still a survivor.
