Once he had arrived, the first thing he spotted was your figure on the ground. Atem swiftly pulled out his sword, aiming it at Bakura who was crouched over your body. With all of his strength, the pharaoh slashed Bakura, leaving a deep gash. The thought of another man touching his beloved angered him deeply.
He looked at you, seeing how you faded in and out of consciousness. He softly cradled your figure into his arms,
"Calixta! Calixta open your eyes! Please stay with me!"
You softly whispered his name before fainting.
The pharaoh took deep breaths. He tried calming himself down. It was not time to cry or breakdown. He needed to get you back to the palace as soon as possible.
Atem looked around, witnessing Bakura's minions stand up and run off into the distance. Along with them, their king left, not before glancing back once more,
"I shall come back pharaoh! I am not done with YOU!"
The palace guards had won the battle. But at the cost of this battle, the royal guard was almost lost.
The king focused down on your delicate features. Scratches littered your body. The moment he spotted the deep cut in your calf, he ripped off a part of his tunic, wrapping it around your leg. Mana began to speak,
"My pharaoh! Is Calixta alright? How did you know we were-"
Atem took a deep breath before cutting her off. The loud boom of his voice thundered,
"I am beyond furious and disappointed in you all. Following her orders with me knowing? I am the Pharaoh here, and I say what goes!"
The King did not want to yell at his people. But he needed to. Such disrespect from the people he fought to care for, it was unacceptable. Everyone kneeled before him, murmuring apologies. The pharaoh glared at the guards. He was beyond pissed. He cleared his throat before barking orders,
"Each and every one of you stand up. We are leaving now"
He gently carried you in his arms as he rode back to the palace.
*Back into your point of view. After the war*
You slowly blinked, regaining your vision. You looked around, realizing you were not in your room. You were in the Pharaoh's instead.
'How did I get in here?'
Suddenly the door opened,
"Ah, Calixta. I see you are awake. I brought you some breakfast as I know you have not eaten"
As soon as Mana places your food down, you looked at her confused,
"Mana whats wrong? You look upset?"
The female rubbed her arms to keep from jittering,
"Well, the pharaoh had been very upset yesterday. He had found out about your plan and the battle. He was actually the one who carried you back"
You smacked your forehead after remembering everything.
'Atem was the one who saved me'
A knock resounded from the door,
"Come in," Mana said
You were about to question why she would let them come in, when you realized it was the pharaoh. Mana bowed before the king. She stepped out, almost as if on command. Atem looked at you. You couldn't decipher the look on his face. Was he mad? Upset? Silence took over the room for a few minutes. He aimed his intimidating gaze at you. To avoid it, you looked down, playing with your hands,
"Do you feel better now?"
You took a deep breath before speaking,
"Y-yes. I am fine now"Softly, the pharaoh took your chin into his hand. The cold material from his ring pressed into your skin.
He spoke calmly, almost as if he didn't want to scare you away,"Calixta, please look at me when I speak to you"
You looked up, straight into his eyes. Strong violet hues were filled with sadness. You couldn't help but look away once more. You felt guilty for going to battle without the king's command,
"My pharaoh I apologize for all I have done. I went against your wishes without you even commanding those wishes. Please do not take it out on everyone else. I take full responsibility for my actions"
Atem sat on the side of the bed. He was silent for a few minutes, before grabbing your hand,
"As much as that angered me, there is nothing that angers me more than the thought of losing you"
You look up at the pharaoh. He had truly expected more from you. You whispered softly,
"I am so sorry Atem"
He took a deep breath,
"I know you are. But as a result of yesterday, things will now change around here. Do you understand?"
You bit your lip before gazing up,
"I understand"
"From now on, you will no longer be the royal guard"
You couldn't help but release a deep sigh. You knew this would happen. But you decided you didn't care at the moment. Now it's affecting you in the long run,
"Yes my pharaoh"
The Pharaoh got up to leave the room. You needed to say one last thing before he left,
"My pharaoh"
He swiftly turned around to face you while holding the door,
"I wanted to let you know, I did not inform you of the battle because I intended on protecting the people. I intended on protecting you specifically"
The Pharaoh looked at you for a moment before finally closing the door. Your heart felt heavy. The look he gave you was blank. It felt as if you were staring at a stone wall.
'Its time to repair things with Atem'.
