You peacefully slept with Atem for a good five hours, before you heard a knock. The knocks resounded over and over again. Startled, Atem woke up, gently shaking you awake. You both looked at each other in confirmation before grabbing your clothes to put them back on. Atem opened the door to reveal Mana,
"Both of you! Please come with me! My pharaoh! My queen! Bakura is here!!"
The pharaoh blankly stared at Mana for a second. Bakura was here?! You both quickly rushed in search of armor. Mana handed you weapons. It was time for war. You strapped your dagger to your thigh before following in a hurry. You walked outside to see all the guards assembled into units. All types of guards from the kingdom and from the palace were lined up to fight. You walked to find your positioning before Atem stopped you,
"Calixta where are you going?"
You looked at the king with determination,
"I am going to war with you"
Atem could not believe his ears. He had already told you, you were not allowed to join. The king gazed at you with a serious expression,
"No, you are not. You will stay here"
You couldn't help but let your anger take over,
"Atem. I have to go. I need to protect the people! I need to protect you!"
Atem stared at you. He did not want you to die. Thoughts flashed before him. He couldn't control himself. Feeling impatient, he raised his voice,
"Calixta you will stay here! And that's an order from your king!"
You backed up at the tone of his voice. Atem was never the type to raise his voice. You knew he was beyond pissed, but you didn't care. You were not about to lose him either. You needed to protect him and everyone else.
You fell to your knees, sobbing into your hands. Mana knelt down to hold you. You couldn't lose him.
As much as it pained the king to see you upset, he could not comfort you. He needed to protect the kingdom before he lost everyone and everything, especially you.
Atem glanced at you before turning around and riding away on his stallion. He felt guilty. Walking away from you was the hardest thing he ever had to do. He couldn't help but allow a small tear to run down his cheek. He quietly whispered to himself,"I'm sorry Calixta"
