Chapter 24-Another Goodbye

BELLAS POV

I'm leaving today.

I can't believe I can't stay in NC with Hayes. Every day my heart shatters a little more. I know it will fully break when I can't see him anymore.

I'm at my house putting to getting my carry on bag. It's 10am and my flight leaves at 1. We have to be there at 11.

It's too soon to leave. I don't want to go.

Hayes stayed at my house last night and it's time to wake him up.

"Hey Hayes....we have to go to the airport." I said shaking him.

He got up and went in the bathroom to change.

When he was done we went down stairs to eat. Everyone seemed so sluggish and miserable. Dylan got here. Dylan is coming on the flight with me and were meeting Kayla and Sam at the airport.

"Ok guys I know I'm leaving but I would like my last moment with you guys to be happy!" I tried to cheer everyone up. It didn't work.

We had breakfast in silence.

This is hard. Seeing the people you love so miserable and knowing your the cause of it.

We had an extra half hour until we had to go. My dad found an old DVD of the Muppet Show my favorite show when I was a kid. We all sat in the living room watching it with at least 15 luggages at the door.

Soon everyone was laughing and having a good time. Briefly forgetting that I was leaving because as soon as the show as over and we had to leave everyone's smiles faded.

Everyone took multiple suitcases. We needed to take two cars because of all of the bags.

In the car I was sitting next to Hayes leaning on his shoulder.

"Don't forget me."he whispered.

"Did you?" I replied.

That seemed to satisfy him.

There was something eating at my mind though. Being away from Hayes would be hard enough. I can't be his girlfriend anymore. It will just make it worse. Then we'll see each other again and it will be ok but then we'll have to say good bye again and I won't be able to do it.

We got to the airport and checked everything in. then we got past security and went to our gate. We still had an hour left.

Hayes and I decided to go to Starbucks. I have to tell him now.

I got my coffee and sat down. I was waiting for Hayes thinking about how to do it.

"Hey Peanut."

"Hi."

"I'm going to miss you so much."

"Me too" I said starting to cry.

"It's ok Bella. We'll see each other soon." He said trying to comfort me.

"No! we cant!"

"Why not?"

"Well se each other and be as happy af and then we'll have to say goodbye again. I can't do this again. I think... we need to break up... I'm sorry."

"What? no we can't! Bella I love you!"

"I love you too but it will be best if we don't see each other until we can stay together."

"Ok but I'm only doing it for you... I'll never stop loving you."

"Me either Jelly."

It was silent for awhile. Then we lightened the mood with talking about college.

It was time to back and say goodbye to everyone.

When I got back to the seats I said good bye to my family.

"I love you guys I'm coming back for Thanksgiving!! Bye!" I gave them a group hug and they said goodbye.

Then it was Hayes' turn. Here come the waterworks.

"Hey peanut."

"Hey Jelly."

"I love you even though we can't be together. There's nothing that will stop me."

"Hayes don't wait for me move on only come back when I come back."

"I won't keep any promises. I'll never stop."

"I love you too."

"Somehow I know we'll meet again. Not sure quite where and I don't know just when. You're in my heart, so until then it's time for saying goodbye." said Hayes quoting the Muppets.

I started to cry.

"We're not saying good bye. Say see you later. You know you have a friend when you can't wait to see them and you know you love someone when it hurts to leave them. I will feel both of those things because you are my best friend and my love. Never forget that...Never forget."

We stood their hugging not letting go of each other not even thinking of letting go.

"Flight 276 on board!" the screechy voice on the intercom said.

I broke down shaking and crying. I didn't know what to do. Hayes calmed me down saying "Today is the day we part but we will alway be together at heart. I love you Peanut... I love you."

All I could do was nod.

I looked into his ocean blue eyes one more time and it gave me strength.

I had to leave. I got out from the embrace. Picked up my carry on and started to walk to the gate following Dylan.

I gave the ticket to the woman and turned around.

I mouthed "I love you Jelly. See you later."

He mouthed "I love you Peanut. Never forget."

Then I walked onto the plane. Bye Haysie. I love you.

HAYES POV

"Today is the day we part but we will alway be together at heart. I love you Peanut... I love you." I said.

She pulled away from the hug and looked me in the eyes. It gave me strength. I know she'll be ok.

She walked towards the gate. Right before she left she turned around and mouthed "I love you Jelly. See you later."

I mouthed back "I love you Peanut. Never forget."

Then she was gone.

It was odd how much it hurt when she walked away. She left only silence.

"Forever and Always." I filled that silence but only briefly.

No one can fill the silence she left.
