Part 3 Chapter 19

Sorry for the long wait and sorry this one is short. There's so much to come in the next few chapters that I have been working on that have me excited to update.
School just started so I've just been getting back in the swing of things and also probably going to have a job soon. Luckily I'm a senior with two free periods a day so I have like little to no homework, which means more time to write!!
Anyway, I know a lot of new readers have just been binge reading and voting so I just want to say, hi! Thanks for choosing my book. 💜

*Annalynn's POV*

The tea party drags on for hours. I honestly had no idea how long a little girls attention span can continue for so long, even for a Royal. But I keep with it and let her teach me proper royal etiquette. At least now if I ever have tea with Aurora I'll know how to drink from a teacup. Once we are done having tea and she knows I've mastered everything she goes on to playing and redressing some dolls. This is when I take my opportunity.

"So Nattie, do you have any friends at home that have tea with you?"

"No, I never get tea parties like this unless it's my birthday. Nathan, Layla and Julia always come to the party but that's it." She shrugs.

"Who's Layla and Julia?"

"Layla is the daughter of the highest knight that my father is very close with. Julia is the cooks daughter."

"Oh. How about Nathan, does he have any friends?"

"Yeah, lost do the highest knights sons. But if he's not with them then he's either in study or in the kitchen with the cook."

Now that's seems a little odd. No Royal openly spends their time in the kitchens without good reason.

"Why does he spend time in the kitchen?"

"I don't know. He says he likes spending time with the cook and likes to make his family the dinners we eat. Isn't he nice?" she strokes the hair of her doll.

"Yes, Nattie, that's very nice of him. How old is the cooks daughter?"

"Julia? Oh, she's about sixteen. But Layla is my age." She continues to pay no stations to my constant grilling. She won't even look at me as she's very focused on dressing the dolls.

I can now put together that Nathan fancies Julia and just says or actually cooks for his family just so that he could be around her. I'm going to try asking more, I need to know more about their rules as a kingdom.

"Do you like this kingdom?" I ask.

"It's lovely!" Nattie smiles and finally looks at me. "Mother and Father thought it would be a good idea that I learn to love this kingdom, I heard them talking about it."

"Isn't it amazing how Aurora is going to have a baby?"

"Yes, I hope it's a girl, then I'll get to have another friend! But my Father hopes it's a boy because he says if it's a boy then our Kingdoms can unite together even more." She gets up, sets the doll she had down and picks another one.

Merlin's beard she has no idea what a betrothal is. If Aurora's baby is a boy then Nattie would one day have to marry him. Which means that Nathan is probably already betrothed to someone else.

"I hope it's a girl too." I sigh. "I want you to have another friend."

"Will you come and have tea with me for my next birthday?" She comes up to me and takes my hands as if it would really mean the world to her.

"I would love too! When the time comes you send word that you request my presence and then I'll see what I can do to be there."

"Really!? Thank you!" She jumps, spins and then throws herself onto me for a big hug.
