DAY ONE: MORNING

•Christian's POV•

I couldn't sleep last night. I know many of us didn't but we didn't waste any of our time talking. We all struggled in silence trying to get what little sleep we could.

Anna. She's all I can thing about. And I know there is a high possibility she is thinking about me too. But I don't know how she's doing back there. I have no idea how this is playing out for her and it taunts me knowing that she's able to know how I am but I have no way of seeing her. I hope she's watching me closely, it soothes me slightly knowing she can be with me still.

Only four out of the hideout and cave at all times is the rule Nathan has set for everyone last night. Two watchmen in the trees nearby and two people to do the hunting for food so we can ration what we have now and what we can hunt.

I was given the job to watch Julia at all times; even if Nathan is with her. Ironically Lucas was asked to stay with Nathan at all times as well as three other knights. That means we won't be leaving the cave very often. Nathan wants us to at least lay low for a few days. Fredrick's men will be very active for the next few days searching for us.

"Not to doubt your highness...but what happens if we are found in the hideout?" Lucas asks while everyone is eating our morning rations. Nobody is outside yet.

"Every watchman," Nathan looks to them. "Is instructed not to come for us if the knights are close. We will allow them to come in, let them think they've got us. Odds are there will only be a few of them, we will fight and kill them as quickly and quietly as possible, but if they try to run...watchmen will be right behind them not allowing them to go anywhere.

"Shouldn't we take one hostage for information?" I suggest.

"That's a likely possibility." He nods before gulping some water down.

"There's only 25 of us, in an event where that could happen some of us could still die. We need more people." Nathan's general command, Vance, complains.

"I agree, which is why we have to keep moving in a few days and I encourage you all to come up with some ideas on how we could get more people to fight our battle with us." Nathan informs us.

Right away I speak up.

"I know a whole ship of men who would be willing, but it's a stretch. I haven't the faintest idea where these men are and how far they could be. I would have to get Anna to see that we need those men and then she would need to communicate back to us somehow where the captains location could be." I say.

"I'm sure she would figure something out fast enough." Julia chimes in.

"I agree, darling. That's why she's in there." Nathan takes his wife's hand while looking to me. "Work on that for me?"

"Of course." I nod, wondering how in Merlin's beard I'll be able to communicate that.
