Chapter 1: Introductions

This is something that I've had in mind for a long time and I'm finally comfortable sharing it with everyone. I will not tolerate any negativity and rude comments that criticize my writing, my creativity, or grammar. RUDE COMMENTS WILL BE DELETED

*Briana*

     Ben and I have know each other for years. We spend a lot of time together since our older brothers have been best friends since they were five years old. I liked spending time with them, their house was always like my second home. When my parents left, my brother, Carlito, gained full custody of me. He was only seventeen when it happened. He was the only parental figure I known since I was eight, I'm fourteen and my brother's twenty three now. I never really noticed a difference when our parents left. They were never around, leaving us with a nanny most of the time. Although, I couldn't understand why they didn't want us anymore. They paid the house off and left it to Carlito and I. We never had contact with them after that. Nor did we have a connection with our aunts, uncles or cousins. I knew it was hard on Carlito being alone and raising me. I turned into a daughter, rather than a baby sister to him. The first year or so,was hard for us. He was really angry but he never took it out on me. He always leaned on Mike, his best friend. Although, he wasn't alone for long. He started dating Catalina when he was 16. I call her 'Cat'. She quickly became a big sister to me as the years went on. Eventually, she moved in with Carlito and I. As I got older, Cat was there for me through all of the changes that came with being a teenage girl. Me growing up was always something Carlito was nervous about. He tries his best and I love him for it, but I know it made him uncomfortable at times.

     Anyway, Ben and I were always close. I was always into sports, same as him. He liked baseball and so did I. At first, Ben never wanted to play on a little league team or anything like that. Especially when he found out that girls couldn't be on a baseball team. So we settled for playing ball with our neighborhood friends in the abandoned sandlot a few blocks away from our neighborhood. As we grew older, my interests shifted. I started playing hockey when I was ten. That's when Ben decided to join Little League. I joined the town's Peewee Hockey League. I ended up being on the same team with Ben's twin brother, Luís. He and I would always butt heads since he can be stubborn and kind of mean. But, this was where I met my second family, and my first girl best friend, Alexa Mara. We clicked instantly. It was great having a girl to hang out with who loved hockey as much as I did. It made being on a team with a bunch guys way more fun and less awkward. As years went on, Lexa started dating one of the guys on the team, she liked him for a while so we talked about that a lot. It was always one of our main topics at our sleepovers.
Last year, our team was chosen to be part of an International Jr Hockey League Tournament. We went to Miami for the summer to compete. There, we added five new players from other states. One of them was Jenna Geoffrey. She was a goal tender and one of the best at her position. She was tough, sweet, and cliqued up with Alexa and I immediately. We got really close while competing. The three of us shared a dorm room for the eight week competition. We were pretty much inseparable. When the tournament ended, the team went back to our hometown; Dover, Delaware. In the off season, the team split and our five members went back to their hometowns. But summer was about to begin, and so was our season.

*Ben*

     I met Bri when we were little kids. We played baseball together in our neighborhood with friends for years. I ended up loving baseball more as I got older, playing little league then for my middle school and high school teams. Not really the same for Bri, she switched to hockey when she was ten. She ended up being on the same team as my twin; Luís. He was obsessed with hockey and hated that Bri liked it so much, making his team coed. Our older brother, Mike, has been best friends with Bri's brother, Carlito. We spent a lot of time together, I didn't mind. We shared everything with each other. From snacks to secrets, we knew everything about one another. Or so I thought. When I was thirteen, I started to feeling different about her. I started caring about what I looked like, what Luís said to her, complimenting her more. I was definitely getting feelings for her. Luís didn't know, only Mike did. Both of us became more private as time went on, but we always stayed close. I think it was hard on Bri since she didn't have her mom around anymore. She had Carlito, and he was nervous about her becoming a 'woman' anyway. Bri was really good about things though. She never really caused any drama between friends or had a negative attitude. She was always the cute and sporty tomboy type. From what I saw, Bri was one of the guys on her hockey team. The guys were like brothers to her. I could never tell if she had feelings for anyone. As far as the guys on the team, it was just friendship. She was never interested in any of them besides that. Though if she was, she was really good at hiding it.
Last summer, her and my brother were chosen for some big hockey tournament and they went to Florida. She was gone the entire time and I missed her so much. But that's when I honestly and truly realized how I felt about her. She was my best friend but also my first love. The following school year was boring, especially since Bri was still in middle school. That was the summer that changed everything, for her and for me...

*Luis*

Ben is my identical twin. But I'm older, by four minutes. We both love sports and played since we were little kids. I started playing hockey when I was eight and I was in the PeeWee League for my town. I loved it so much but when I turned eleven, things changed. The team become coed, that's when Alexa and Briana joined the team. Briana was my twin's best friend. They played baseball together for a while but I guess she didn't like it anymore. It was annoying not having one thing to myself. I have to share my bedroom and my sport. It was annoying having girls on the team but they earned their place and we treated them no different than the guys. I took my anger out on Briana a lot. Mostly because she was around the most. I always make fun of her, bothering her and Ben when their home. They have been really close for years. Her and I stopped arguing as much recently. I always thought she was annoying and hyper but all of that's changed. I guess I was starting to respect her more and realizing that she wasn't going anywhere, and I shouldn't be so concerned about her. I do think she's gotten really pretty over the years. Her hair was long and curly, her skin was dark caramel and her eyes were dark brown and a smile that could brighten anyone's day. I started to like when she hangs with my brother at my house. On occasions, I saw a difference in how Ben acted when we were together. Always defending her, complimenting her. I even caught him checking her out as she was walking by. I didn't tell him I what I knew, I figured he would tell me any thing he wanted me to know. The summer after I turned fourteen, the team and I got chosen to compete in a huge hockey tournament. We were gone all summer and it was one of the best experiences on my life. We traveled a lot that's when I got close with my teammates, Banks and Collins. They became my best friends. We were roommates during competition, basically forcing us to get to know each other. Come to find out, their attitudes and personalities were similar to mine. We always laughed, played pranks, and were unstoppable on the ice. I couldn't ask for anything more. When the tournament was over, we remained close, even though we went to different high schools. But it's summer now and hockey season is about to start. The boys are back!
