Aaliyah was star struck.
"What do you mean where's Ezme?" It was practically a shriek.
"Quiet down, Aaliyah!" Janelle hissed. "We don't have much time before the guards suspect something and she comes back. You didn't notice that you're aid has been someone else for a week now?"
It was a fair question. Even Aaly had noticed how dumb her exclamation had sounded. And she was right, they only had a few minutes alone before her aid came back. But where she went was beyond Aaly.
"Yes I noticed, but I thought that you knew where she went." She said in practically a murmur.
"So where is she?" Janelle persisted.
"I was hoping to ask you for more details. But I was told that her Nan got seriously sick and she was going to be gone for a few weeks. But..." She didn't finish her sentence, leaving the implied words hanging in the air.
"But you don't believe that story." Her doctor finished.
"Yes." Aaly confirmed, "Ezme never mentioned any family... and I don't think that she would up and leave without telling me, in person, and not leave someone else to scared to come in the room to deliver a vague note."
The clicking echoed through the stairway outside the door.
Janelle sighed, "It seems our time has run out." She started packing up her stuff, "I'll try to dig up what I can, just hold tight. And don't be scared to ask someone after another week or so."
"Alright."
A couple seconds later the nameless aid was through the door and inside the room. And Janelle was out.
