Cal walked around the crowd of people waiting in line to get their food.
Should have just brought their own food to avoid the hassle he thought.
Freshman year wasn't as bad as he thought. It wasn't all snarky moody teenagers going through puberty.
He spotted April sitting alone and made his way towards her. Something had changed between them. He felt it and knew it, but wasn't sure what it was.
As he made his way towards her he had accidentally tripped over his untied shoelaces and his tray of food fell on April.
Cal froze. April froze. Everyone froze.
April let out a laugh.
Cal didn't think that was a good sign.
April turned around and dumped her tray of food on him. She started laughing hysterically like it was the funniest thing she ever saw.
That's when a food fight started.
It was chaos in the room. Everyone was throwing food everywhere.
April didn't seem to mind and she let out a laugh.
"Is there something wrong with you today. I'm not use to not getting the 'I hate you' treatment." Cal says.
April laughs again and this time Cal is relieved enough to let out a small chuckle.
"It's entertaining. Too see us always hating each other for what we do to each other. And I never realized that I enjoyed it." She says.
"Enjoyed our mini brawls? You've changed April Lake." Cal says teasingly.
April smiles and says "I hate you." And throws a soggy peanut butter sandwich at his face.
"I hate you too."
"WHO STARTED THIS?" The principal yells.
"APRIL AND CAL." Everyone yells back.
"Oh shit. I definitely hate you."
"Yep, the feelings mutual here."
