April felt like Cal was up to something.
When he had brought her to the local skating rink, she felt that he was thinking of something.
April had tried confessing last year and had failed miserably.
"I like you" came out as "I hate you."
So tell me, would you be frustrated?
Hell yeah.
April put on her skates while Cal was waiting for her in the rink.
"Come on slow poke!" He yells as he skates away.
"Your such a gentleman" April muttered under her breath still a little grumpy from her attempt of telling him. She had to tell him soon because they were going off to college or university.
April sighs and tells herself to just enjoy her time and steps onto the rink.
She skates to Cal while he has his back to her and she was planning to push him over. Except, Cal had already saw that coming and turned around at the right moment to grab her arm and swing her around in a circle. April grabbed onto Cal's had and swung him along with her. They started to swing around in circles and when they came to a stop, they went over to the side to rest their heads. Everything seemed so dizzy.
April and Cal had wide smiles on their faces and were staring at each other with a type of bright light in their eyes.
"Come on" Cal pulls April to skate, but April was feeling a little bold today.
"April, I have something to tell you and-"
When Cal was talking to her she mustered her courage and slammed herself into Cal's body.
She cringed at how hard she had slammed into him, but that didn't stop her.
April had managed to go on her tippie toes with her skates and kissed Cal.
Actions mean more than words, right?
Her eyes were squeezed tight as she was to scared to see his reaction. When she was about to pull away Cal reacted to the kiss.
They slowly kissed each other as April's arms snaked around his neck and Cal's arms around her waist. This kiss was different from their grade eight kiss. Their lips were moving and they seemed to be trying to tell each other something through this kiss. The kiss had started off gentle, but it started to get a little more passionate.
Hmmm. He tastes like strawberries.
April didn't want to pull away from the kiss, but she knew the moment had to end either way.
April and Cal's forehead were leaning against each other and they were both breathing heavily.
"I hate you. That was suppose to be my job." Cal breathed out. "Though I can't blame you since I'm so irresistible. So do I get to hear my favourite phrase?"
April smiles and looks at him. "Oh that? It was probably from the spinning that made me do that." She teased.
Cal faked a pout and said "I hate you. You hurt my feelings."
April laughed and her eyes glistened as she looked at Cal.
"I hate you too."
I guess sometimes 'I hate you' is another alternative.
