Haneul determined that she felt unfair she decided to seek help, waited patiently for her boyfriend to leave.
There was a problem, all her friends immediate relatives have been distant and she hasn't spoken to them over a year because of her boyfriend.
She tried to contact her friend yoonji. Her thumb quivered against the air in nervousness. She took a deep breath and pressed the contact.
The phone started ringing. She waited patiently for her friend to answer. After gruesome 30 seconds . She heard a hello at the other side.
"Yoonji, this is Haneul," she said.
Yoonji was beyond elated to hear her friend's voice.
after such a long time and responded with the brightest hello in the world.
"It's been such a long time, isn't it? ", Haneul said .
"Yeah, I thought you became a stone she said ," the friend replied with sarcasm.
However amidst all the sass , she truly missed her friend and found something weird in her way of talking.
"Haneul,Shall we meet up ? ,"She said.
Haneul was happy that she invited her and agreed to it.
Before Yoonji can say anything to haneul added that she will meet at her home. Yoonji found it weird cause she wanted to meet up in a cafe but still went on with it.
They agreed on a time to meet up.
Exactly after an hour Haneul left her place and went to yoonji's home . The whole time her heart was pounding but her legs had a mind of their own. They seemed to gravitate to safety.
She knocked on her door. She could see the lilac painted walls peeling. There were old bicycles parked in the corner. It reminded her of the days she would steal Yoonji's brothers cycle and ride.
She recounted the glory days where they would play for hours under the sun.
The welcome mat was now replaced by a mat that reads fuck off and picture of a cat , Haneul's mind pondered to how Yoonji's mother let her put the mat on the front door.
She chuckled as it was something yoonji would do despite her mother's dismay.
Amidst all the chaotic memories and thoughts. She was interrupted by the door opening .
There was a small figure with short hair which framed her face . She was dressed in kumamon pyjamas.
"Hey,Come in."Yoonji said raspily.
Haneul removed her shoes and made her way inside.
She followed The Little figured woman into the house until she pointed to a leather couch and asked her to sit.
Haneul seated herself on the sofa and looked around the decor. How the decor has changed throughout the years.
Yoonji came with a cup of warm coffee and handed it to her.
She found strange behavior in her friend . Since she always initiated conversation.
She kneeled in front of her and held her hands and rubbed circles on it and asked "are you alright , Haneul?",
That question was the breaking point for her.
Tears threatened to fall and she avoided her friends kind glare . Yoonji shifted her face so she could have a look at her friend.
Haneul broke down crying and confessed to the ordeal. She showed her the bruises on her body.
Yoonji's stomach clenched at the sight in front of her.
"I thought this is normal,"Haneul added.
yoonji couldn't help feel sad at her friend's definition of normal.
"None of what she's been through is normal and no one deserves this treatment. "She hugged her friend and then looked at her face.
"I'm happy you chose to confide in me and reach out to me. You can come to me whenever you feel threatened."
She then added, "I understand how you're feeling right now and No one on Earth deserve this treatment. "
