Sacrifice
It was a dark summer day
That rain chose to shine,
And there was he standing
Holding a gun
About to pull the trigger – at me.The time that seemed endless,
But suddenly stopped short
As the water pitter pattered
Down to the ground
Only a sound of a trickle was heard – at that time.His target was locked;
When I heard the gun clicked,
My heart was constricted
So hard I couldn’t breathe;
It felt as though, he was suffocating me.I looked into his eyes
And tried to find a reason,
But he showed me no emotion;
Just coldness,
That made me shiver inside.The gun was pointed at me;
Time stood still;
When the trigger broke loose,
Rain kept pouring down,
Hiding the tears behind – he died.There he laid lifeless,
Where the bullet betrayed him,
Where he shot himself
I never knew why,
But without hesitation – he made a sacrifice.
