Chapter Four

Mubeen came back and met Zahra sleeping peacefully. Alhamdulillah! He said and kissed her forehead.

Hajiya called earlier, she wanted to know if Zahra is alright. Doctor Sabrina said to him while he sat down.

I can testify she is much better now. He said smiling. So what is the discussion all about, hope it has nothing to do with Zahra right? He asked curiously.

Well, Mubeen it has everything to do with Zahra. "She replied". I was thinking if you can get a nanny for her. She added.

He kept mute and was staring at her face as if he is trying to figure out something before he finally said, i don't want any problem from Munaya, i would not want her to think otherwise.

I understand dear but Zahra is still a baby, you can't take care of her alone. You need a woman to support you. Doctor Sabrina said to him.

Well it's your choice, you can as well discuss with Munaya about it first. She added and stood up. I have a patient to attend to, make sure you bring her for checkup tomorrow morning by 8am. She said to him and left without waiting for his response.

When he was leaving the office, he bumped into Intisar. Ohh am sorry, he said and left with Zahra on his shoulder. She kept on staring at him till he was out of sight. If only you know what i feel for you. "She thought to herself".

Mubeen drove straight to their house. Hajiya was about going out when he got there so he followed suit and they went back inside together.

I was about coming to the hospital, she said and collected Zahra from him. She is fine now, here are her drugs. "He said yawning".

Hajiya am very hungry, what do you have left? He asked her. I did not prepare anything this morning. You know today is thursday, am fasting. She said to him as she fed Zahra with the honey mixed with zam zam water.

Okay let me quickly prepare noodles, he said and left for the kitchen. Within few minutes, he has finished preparing it and even arranged the kitchen. He dished the noodles and chilled pineapple drink and came back to the sitting room.

There was no one in the sitting room, so he sat down and ate before going out to pray. After praying, he decided to mingle with some of his friends he had not seen for awhile.

Guy have you seen Intisar around? One of them asked him. Yes i saw her today at the hospital she works. You guys were so close that we thought you will even marry her. "another guy added".

It's not my fault, she just disappeared without any trace and you know i can't ask her parent about her, besides she is like a sister to me. He said to them. Naso the tin dey take start, another guy chipped in and they all burst into laughter.

I heard she even got married over there but her husband is late. Kamal, like they called him said. What! Are you serious about that? Mubeen asked him with his eyes wide open.

Yes i am, she came back just last week with her baby who is barely a month old. Kamal added. Such is life, may his soul rest in peace. Mubeen said and they all chorused Ameen.

They were busy chatting and did not even noticed when she walked pass. Guys we will meet later, Mubeen said and left.

When he got home, everywhere was quite as though there is no one in the house. He went directly to Hajiya's room and saw a lady breastfeeding Zahra.
What! He shouted and she got startled.
