When Lubna left, Kamal went close to Samira and knelt down.Am sorry please forgive me, was all he could utter.
Samira was just staring at him, she was speechless.
When Kamal noticed she was not ready to say anything, he moved closer and wanted hugging her but she stopped him.
Don't you dare lay your filthy hands on me, she shouted at him.
Samira please am sorry, I don't know what came over me then. He said solemnly.
Why did you reject me back then? She asked.
He never expected that question from her because he knows his reasons aren't genuine.
You better provide an answer, she said which brought him back from his deep thoughts.
He lowered his head and kept quiet. Ohh you thought I was a village illiterate right or better still a low life. She added staring at him in anger.
No that's not it, please am still apologising. I love you and I want to take you back as my wife. He said and she raised her head to look at him.
If only I was still that village girl, would you have come back for me? She asked him.
Am sorry dear, he said and moved closer to her.
When he noticed she did not push him away, he pulled her and hugged her.
As if the tears were given a-go-ahead, as they find their way down her chin.
He patted her back and kept consoling her.
Her nose sniffs stopped and he checked only to see her sleeping.
He lay her on the bed and arranged the house.
Lubna went back to the hospital very late. Everywhere was quiet so she just headed to their room.
She was surprised to see the room empty, where is everyone? She asked herself.
She brought out her phone and called Intisar but the phone was on the bed ringing.
She took the phone and went out.
On her way out, she saw Hajiya rushing in.
Where is he? Hajiya asked her.
Before she could provide an answer, a nurse came to them and told Hajiya her attention was needed in the ICU.
They both rushed to where the nurse directed them to.
They met Intisar standing by the door, she was just hoping to see a nurse or doctor who would tell her 'he will be fine'.
Hajiya was called in and asked to sit by his bed side and be calling his name and also praying for him.
Hajiya was devastated, now she understood what it felt like to have a patient struggling for life in the Intensive Care Unit.
Just pray and he will be fine, was all the nurses and doctor kept telling her.
She kept praying and calling out for him.
His finger moved and Hajiya noticed it. She quickly wiped off her tears and held his hand softly tight. He held her too and she felt it.
Doctor my son is moving, she shouted smiling.
The doctor stopped the 3 shocks she was about to made him undergo and diverted her attention to his finger.
He moved another finger again and opened his eyes.
They were all surprised, they had given up already thinking he will not survive this.
Alhamdulillah doctor Sabrina said and wiped off sweat from her forehead then turned to face Mubeen.
Mubeen, she called his name and he nodded.
Are you alright, do you feel any pain? She asked him and he nodded negatively.
He opened his mouth to speak and what he could utter was "Zahra"
He made to stand up from the bed immediately but Hajiya held him back.
Please get some rest, she said.
Where is Zahra? He asked looking around.
Hajiya called Intisar and Lubna in and told them Mubeen is fine.
They came in both smiling. Intisar handed Zahra over to him and he kept staring at her...
He shook his head and tears came freely down his chin.
Lubna called Kamal and told him about the new development.
He was happy and couldn't even hide it through call.
Mubeen was moved back to the ward.
Some minutes later, Kamal and Samira came in.
When Mubeen saw Samira, he was shocked.
What are you doing here? He asked shouting at her.
Kamal please take her out, he said to him in a terrified manner.
