Hard to Love a Wolf [BOOK 1]

Chapter Seventeen

Fangs and I made our way into our first class, him asking about who took the picture even though I wouldn't tell him. Archie didn't even look up at me, and Veronica just gave me a "we have to talk later" look. I ignored it as I passed by Fangs and I setting at our table. He moved his chair over closer to me as we started to do the Biology homework due today, and he copied me.

"If I get Sweetpea to go, will you go to Prom?" I asked Fangs as he started to copy the last answer. "Adelina, I don't have a date" he laughed, and I grabbed his hand and nodded my head towards Kevin's table, where he sat gossiping with Veronica. "I don't think so, Ade" "Come on, he'll say yes. Do it now. Then Sweetpea and I can still go as friends and I won't have to third wheel you two" he laughed and rolled his eyes at me. "Go turn our papers in, and ask" I demanded, shoving the papers into his chest.

He gave me an unsure look before making his way to the front of the room. I watched as he glanced at me one other time before stopping off at their table. Veronica let out a squeal, grabbing Kevin's arm and nodding, as he looked at her, before back to Fangs and saying something.

Fangs came back, and I held my hands up, and he just gave a single nod "I told you" I said in a sing a song voice as he laughed, moving his chair back.

After a while, it was History and I made my way to the back where I usually sat beside Sweetpea. I stopped by his desk, looking up from the very large snake on the desk "We're going to Prom" he gave a shrug, nodding his head "Fine" "Easier then I thought" I said as I sat down, and he chuckled at me. "I got Fangs to ask Kevin" "So do I have to get something nice?" I laughed as I shook my head "Just clean up, and a button up at least" he turned to me like I was asking for him to cut off a dragon nut and give it to me.

"You can still wear your jacket" "That wasn't a choice" I rolled my eyes "I figured as much" I said as he went back to the drawing.

After many classes, I found myself shooting the ball around in the gym during study hall. But I didn't move as it went to my second study hall, when the basketball boys were supposed to come practice. I hadn't even realized they were in here until Fangs came around and stole the ball from me, shooting over my head. I gave him a shove as I ran for the ball, starting to run from him, before Reggie joined him. "This isn't fair!" I shouted as I got cornered.

I started to look around, before I started faking them out. I ran like I was going to run past Fangs, but at last minute I spun around and ran past Reggie. My feet carried me to the opposite side of the gym as another Bulldog joined in to help them. I shot the ball and barely made it before Reggie came around and got the ball. I chased after him, the boys blocking me from it, so I dove between the other dogs legs and slid before jumping up to my feet and running to steal the ball from Reggie.

I shot from the half court and watched as it made it in the hoop. I heard their coach shout at them, in a 3 vs 1 and the one being a girl half their size kicking their asses. Fangs ran down the court to get the ball, and that's when Sweetpea and another dog joined in "This just isn't fair now!" I shouted while they barreled towards me. I waited until they got down to me, and when Fangs shot, I let out a shout as it caused him to fumble a bit, missing. I let it dribble before grabbing it and starting to run back towards him.

I bent down under Reggie's arm and spun around Sweetpea's side, shooting just before Fangs could steal the ball. It almost didn't make it, but I let out a cheer as it did. I bent down a bit, grasping my hips "I'm so out of shape" I mumbled as I started towards the bleachers where my stuff was. "If I remember correctly, you're very in shape" I heard behind me. I glared as Sweetpea jogged past me with a grin on his face.

I sat on the bleachers, starting to pull my boots on and grab my jacket and bag before I headed to my bike and made my way to the bar.

I rushed around the bar with drinks, it was one of the older serpents birthdays, so it was a celebration. As I made my least lap back to the bar, I took the shot my mom had made for me. I grabbed the two beers Hogeye sat out for me and started to make my way to the pool table to Fangs and Pea. "Here you go ladies" I said, watching Sweetpea make two solid balls into pockets. Fangs took his own, but I stood with Pea's as he moved around, sinking another one. As he moved around again, he missed and took the beer grumpily.

I heard my mother whistle, making me roll my eyes before returning to the bar, where she put six shots, two jack and cokes, and our beers on a carrier for me. I took it and started off to the booth that my dad sat at, laughing with the other men and Birdie. I sat the tray down and started to pass the drinks out. "This daughter of yours, she's going to do something you know" dad looked at me as he tilted the shot back, "I know it" he said with a wink that sent me back to the bar.

The night had gone on before mom told me to head home for the night, just so happened to be when Fangs and Sweetpea decided to call it a night as well, which lead to us riding to the trailer park together, occasionally speeding past each other in a dumb manor.

When I got home, I went straight to my room and flopped on the bed with a sigh. I was nearly asleep before a knock made me jump and almost fall from the bed. I rolled to put my feet on the floor and opened the window, seeing Sweetpea in pajamas "you bitch, I was almost asleep" he laughed and hopped in the window. "what are you doing" I asked while sitting back on my bed. "couldn't sleep, decided to come over" I nodded, almost back asleep as I sat up. He laughed and grabbed my hands "Change, first, Adelina. You can't sleep in your pants and shirt that smells awfully like whiskey and sweat" I grunted as I stumbled over to my pajama drawer and pulled out clothes, turning back around and throwing them at Sweetpea as I held my arms out "Change me" I grumbled as he let out another laugh before setting me on the edge of my bed and slipping my shirt over my head and putting the one I had gotten out on me, before laying me down and changing me into shorts.

I crawled up the bed and opened my arms for him "sleep" "Let me take my shoes off, shit" I dropped my arms and buried my head in my pillow before I felt the bed dip down, which I instantly moved my head to be buried in his neck and half my body over his. "Goodnight, Adelina" "Night Pea" I mumbled against his skin.
